Responsibilities
- Own small, well-bounded projects end-to-end with guidance available
- Build and maintain features within the ingestion and reconciliation pipelines
- Contribute to tooling that provides end-to-end traceability of money
- Develop features for reporting and reconciliation products
- Produce standardized journals and summaries that feed downstream accounting
- Contribute to large-scale tax and regulatory reporting systems
- Support broader regulatory and compliance obligations
- Validate your work before calling it done
- Take agency in debugging and escalating production issues
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and finance partners
- Review peers' work, apply their feedback, and document learnings
- Opportunistically improve systems by replacing manual work with automation
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software or data engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent technical experience
- Experience building or maintaining batch- or event-driven data pipelines
- Exposure to workflow-orchestration technologies (e.g., Airflow, Temporal, Spark)
- Working understanding of distributed systems
- Proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Go)
- Solid SQL
- Experience delivering well-scoped projects or features end-to-end
- Strong communication skills
- Care for engineering quality, including maintainable and testable code
- Proficiency in using AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle
Preferred
- Exposure to financial, tax, regulatory, or payments reporting and reconciliation products
- Familiarity with the payments ecosystem
- Understanding of accounting principles, double-entry bookkeeping, and financial reconciliation processes
- Experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake)
- Experience with distributed data systems and tools such as Spark/PySpark, Delta Lake, Kafka, and Hadoop
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Kubernetes)
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
- Interest in financial products and markets
