Modeling & Simulation Engineer, Mid

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Mid-level Modeling & Simulation Engineer to support multi-domain defense simulation development and testing for our Wargaming and Modeling & Simulation team. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building system models, running high-fidelity physics-based simulations, and solving the most difficult technical challenges faced in the modeling & simulation domain.

The modeling & simulation engineer will utilize their M&S experience developing and using system, subsystem, and component models in aeronautical, astronautical, ground, sea, and undersea applications, executing simulation trades, and performing Monte Carlo analysis. The engineer will also be developing and implementing high fidelity models for simulations to support strategy, technology/concept development, requirements, design, and modeling of communications networks and systems.

This role is more than just a simple modeling & simulation analyst role. As a modeling & simulation engineer at Booz Allen, you’ll use your passion to master new tools and techniques and identify needed system improvements. You’ll help clients overcome their most difficult challenges using the latest architectural approaches, tools, and technologies. You’ll make sure the solution developed by the team considers the current architecture and operating environment, as well as future functionality and enhancements.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

You Have

  • 3+ years of experience with physics-based modeling & simulation
  • Experience using government-off-the-shelf (GOTS) mission-level modeling & simulation tools such as AFSIM, EADSIM, ITASE, Command PE, or NGTS
  • Experience with post-processing simulation results and generating dashboards and briefs of results including quantitative analysis and breakdowns plots
  • Experience modeling entire systems or individual components such as sensors, propulsion, vehicles, and weapon systems
  • Knowledge of mission level system functions and dynamics and how to model them including kinematics and motion propagation, sensor and weapon interactions, command chains and networks, and continuous and discrete-event simulations
  • Ability to perform analysis measuring key system performance metrics and verifying model behavior using reference documents and test data
  • Ability to create, test, and debug code in object-oriented programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, or C++
  • Ability to apply engineering rigor to solve engineering and scientific problems
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or STEM field

Nice If You Have

  • Experience with underwater acoustics sensor modeling and working with bathymetry datasets
  • Experience with integrated air defense systems (IADS/IAMD) modeling
  • Experience with C++ plugin development on Windows including CMake and Microsoft Visual Studio tooling
  • Experience working with DoW problem sets including modeling & simulation, systems engineering, operations analysis, and wargaming
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and distill information into coherent and compelling narratives, making it accessible to a broad audience
  • Ability to be a self-starter, ambitious, and fast learner who proactively solves problems when faced with steep technical challenges
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or STEM field

Clearance

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Top Secret clearance is required.
