About Hyperlayer

Hyperlayer is the intelligent banking platform built for the agentic economy: the financial control layer that sits above banks’ existing cores, enabling next-generation Smart Accounts, without ripping anything out. From a single integration, we give financial institutions a secure rules and orchestration engine that lets them design, launch and scale hyper-personalised products in weeks while preserving stability, compliance and control. And there’s nothing like us anywhere in the world.

Hyperlayer works with Tier 1 and Tier 2 FIs across the UK, US, EMEA and Hong Kong, with an award-winning UK consumer app (HyperJar) sitting in the group. We’re creating the fintech category that every bank in the world needs: programmable, governed, agent-ready accounts. Your job is to make sure our audiences know that.

About the role

This is an office-based role, with regular in-person collaboration in the office.

As our Value Engineer, you’ll apply the same discipline — turning technical detail into a clear, quantified case — on two fronts.

Externally, you’ll sit alongside Sales throughout the deal cycle, building the ROI and business-case models that help prospective Tier 1 and Tier 2 FI clients see the financial case for Hyperlayer.

Internally, you’ll apply that same lens to our own platform, working with Engineering to identify where architecture and infrastructure spend can be reduced without compromising reliability, security, or compliance. It’s a broad remit for someone who enjoys both client-facing work and hands-on analysis, and as we grow, there’s scope to shape it further.

What you'll do

  • Partner with Sales to build tailored ROI and business-case models that quantify the value of Hyperlayer’s platform for prospective clients, and lead value-discovery workshops with their stakeholders
  • Translate technical capabilities into financial and operational outcomes that resonate with both external stakeholders (a banking CFO or COO) and internal leadership.
  • Support RFP responses and late-stage deal reviews with quantified business cases; present value findings directly to economic buyers.
  • Analyse Hyperlayer’s own platform architecture and infrastructure spend to identify opportunities to reduce cost while preserving function, reliability and compliance.
  • Partner with Engineering to evaluate trade-offs between cost, performance and complexity in architecture and infrastructure decisions, and run structured value-engineering reviews on new investments before they ship.
  • Build and maintain a reusable library of value models, ROI calculators and cost/benefit case studies — both client-facing and internal.
  • Work with Finance to forecast infrastructure spend and track outcomes of cost-optimisation initiatives, and with Customer Success to capture value realised post-sale.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Experience in a value engineering, value consulting, or business-case role — either client-facing (pre-sales) or applied to a software product or platform — ideally in B2B fintech or enterprise software.
  • Strong financial modelling skills — comfortable building ROI/TCO models in Excel or similar, for both a client audience and an internal engineering/finance audience.
  • Ability to translate technical detail into a clear narrative for non-technical, senior stakeholders, whether that's a prospective client's CFO or Hyperlayer's own leadership team.
  • Comfortable engaging with both a live deal cycle (working directly with Sales) and technical/infrastructure discussions (working directly with Engineering).
  • Confidence presenting to senior or executive audiences.
  • Confidence using AI tools (such as Claude) as part of your daily workflow — for example, drafting business-case narratives, analysing cost data, or accelerating model iteration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in banking, payments, or financial services.
  • Background in management consulting, corporate strategy, or FinOps.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) well enough to assess cost drivers.
  • Familiarity with card processing, open banking, or payments infrastructure.

Using AI at Hyperlayer

Hyperlayer is hyper-focused on making the most of AI across every workstream, and Value Engineering is no exception. You’ll be expected to use tools like Claude as part of how you work day to day — for example, turning discovery-workshop notes into a first-draft business case, analysing infrastructure cost data to spot patterns, or iterating quickly on ROI and cost models. We see this as an opportunity to spend more time on the judgement calls — with clients and with Engineering — and less time on the mechanics of building each model from scratch.
