A Brief Overview
The Center for Basic MR Research at Endeavor Health is seeking a highly motivated researcher with hands-on experience in preclinical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to join our multidisciplinary research program.
The successful candidate will work with a Bruker 9.4T preclinical MRI system and participate in the development and execution of experimental MRI studies spanning neuroscience, physiology, and translational biomedical research.
This position is intended primarily for a postdoctoral fellow, although candidates with substantial independent preclinical MRI experience may be considered for a Research Scientist-level appointment, depending on qualifications and institutional criteria. A successful postdoctoral fellow will have opportunities for increasing scientific independence and career advancement.
Research Environment
The position provides access to a dedicated high-field preclinical MRI research environment and opportunities to collaborate across neuroscience, anesthesiology, cardiovascular research, biomedical engineering, and related areas.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop an independent scientific profile through publications, conference presentations, collaborative studies, and grant development.
Appointment level will be based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
What you will do
- Independently perform preclinical MRI experiments using the Bruker 9.4T system.
- Develop, optimize, and implement MRI acquisition protocols for animal research.
- Operate the scanner and associated hardware and perform routine quality-control procedures.
- Perform image reconstruction, processing, quantitative analysis, and interpretation.
- Assist with optimization and troubleshooting of MRI sequences, coils, shimming, acquisition parameters, and experimental protocols.
- Work closely with investigators conducting neuroscience, anesthesia, cardiovascular, and other biomedical research.
- Participate in experimental design and development of new imaging approaches.
- Maintain clear documentation of imaging protocols and data-processing procedures.
- Contribute to manuscripts, scientific presentations, and grant applications.
- Help train students, fellows, and research personnel in appropriate MRI procedures as experience permits.
- Candidates with experience developing MRI pulse sequences or advanced quantitative imaging methods will have opportunities to expand these areas of research.
What you will need
- Education: Doctorate Medicine Required or Doctorate Biology Required or MD Medicine Required or MD Biology Required or PHD Medicine Required or PHD Biology Required
- Experience: 3 Years of experience in professional research laboratory
- Skills:
- Research experience using preclinical MRI.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct MRI experiments and analyze imaging data.
- Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Strong written and oral scientific communication skills.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Bruker preclinical MRI systems.
- Experience with Bruker ParaVision or related Bruker acquisition and reconstruction software.
- Experience performing MRI studies in experimental animals.
- Experience with one or more advanced MRI approaches, such as functional MRI, diffusion MRI, perfusion imaging, spectroscopy, quantitative MRI, cardiac MRI, or physiological MRI.
- Experience with pulse-sequence development or modification.
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, or other scientific computing environments.
- Experience integrating physiological monitoring or other experimental measurements with MRI.
