We are currently looking for a Product Thermal Engineer to join our dynamic team in Zagreb, Croatia!
As a Product Thermal Engineer, you will take ownership of the design and development of HVAC designs for mission-critical datacenter facilities, modular infrastructure projects and AI factories worldwide.
The role combines engineering collaboration with Pre-Sales, Product Management, Marketing, and cross-functional engineering teams to develop general designs and project specific solutions globally.
You will develop thermal and HVAC solutions for modular data centers and AI factories, creating conceptual and detailed mechanical designs, including heat load calculations, cooling and ventilation designs, CFD analyses, drawings, specifications, and material submittals. You will support projects throughout the full lifecycle, from concept development and design coordination to construction support and commissioning, while collaborating with multidisciplinary international teams and ensuring compliance with project requirements, standards, and quality objectives.
We're looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex, critical engineering challenges, continuously improving technology solutions, and working with modern automation platforms, virtualization technologies, industrial protocols, and AI-assisted engineering tools.
What kind of work will you be doing?
- Develop thermal and HVAC concepts, standards, and detailed designs for modular data centers and AI factories.
- Create HVAC system layouts, cooling and ventilation calculations, CFD analyses, functional diagrams, specifications, and technical documentation using industry-standard engineering tools.
- Support product and project development from concept design through detailed engineering, construction support, and commissioning.
- Provide technical support to Pre-Sales, Offering, Marketing, and engineering teams in developing thermal and HVAC solutions.
- Prepare HVAC documentation, material submittals, Bills of Materials (BOMs), equipment schedules, and project deliverables.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and engineering best practices.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings, design reviews, coordination meetings, and site activities.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, procurement, manufacturing, sales, service, and suppliers.
- Review and approve HVAC documentation, equipment selections, and supplier proposals.
- Coordinate with contractors, manufacturers, and installation teams to support project execution.
- Provide technical guidance during manufacturing, installation, testing, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Support quality inspections, design verification, and resolution of technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and maintain project records, as-built documentation, and operation manuals.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of thermal design standards, cooling solutions, and product offerings.
- Stay current with emerging cooling technologies, HVAC innovations, and industry trends to support the development of next-generation AI factory and data center solutions.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably with a focus on Thermodynamics, HVAC, or Thermal Engineering.
- 2+ years of experience in thermal engineering, HVAC system design, or related mechanical engineering disciplines.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and contributing to complex engineering projects.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken (minimum B2 level).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; experience with Revit/BIM tools is an advantage.
- Experience with CFD simulation and thermal analysis tools, such as Ansys, DC Reality, or similar platforms, is considered a plus.
- Understanding of HVAC systems, heat transfer, cooling technologies, ventilation systems, and thermal design principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate and optimize thermal solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
Travel Requirement
- Occasional site visits, coordination meetings and meeting with customers worldwide
