We are looking to grow our team of Artisans with a Senior Backend Java Engineer.

About the Role

As a Senior Backend Java Engineer, you’ll design and build the microservices and APIs behind products used by well-known companies and their customers nationwide. You’ll bring hands-on Java expertise to client engagements spanning product development, cloud migration, and DevOps — and you’ll work closely with Artisans across disciplines, from architects to designers, to ship reliable systems that hold up at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and build microservices using the following tech stack: Java, Spring Framework, JPA/Hibernate, Cloudformation or Terraform, Kafka, AWS Cloud Technology
• Navigate and execute on dev-ops automations with multiple cloud providers and technologies
• Maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders on progress towards objectives and managing client expectations
• Proactively troubleshoot to deliver high quality solutions to customers and internal partners

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• 7+ years of Java programming experience
• Direct practical experience with the following tools/platforms and expert level in at least three: AWS Cloud Technology, Spring Framework, JPA/Hibernate, Docker, Cloudformation or Terraform, Kafka
• Experience building microservice architectures
• Experience with dev-ops automations with multiple cloud providers and technologies

Extra Credit

• BS in Computer Science related degree, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
• Prior experience working at an innovative technology consulting firm
• Experience with eCommerce and retail solutions and environments
• Experience with supply chain & logistics solutions and environments

As such, you may be required to travel quarterly, depending on the specific client responsibilities of your role. This position requires constant operation of a computer, various software programs and other electronic productivity tools. This position requires prolonged observation of a computer screen. Additionally, it requires regular participation in virtual meetings and trainings.
