The Level 1/P1 Engineer supports the Compute, Storage, Monitoring, and Automation team within Enterprise Operations. This role assists with day-to-day monitoring, event response, ticket triage, routine administration, documentation, and operational support activities that help maintain the availability and continuity of compute, storage, monitoring/alerting, and automation technologies across the enterprise. The engineer follows established processes, procedures, and work instructions; escalates complex issues to senior engineers or technical leads; and works closely with systems, application, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable service to customers. Clear communication, strong customer service, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn enterprise technologies are key attributes for this role.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Monitor hardware, compute, storage, operating system, and service monitoring events to help maintain consistent operations and service availability. Respond to alerts and problem tickets submitted through the enterprise ticketing system; document actions taken, communicate status, and escalate issues according to established procedures. Perform initial troubleshooting and data gathering for incidents, service problems, and failures; assist senior engineers with root cause analysis as needed. Follow documented runbooks, standard operating procedures, and work instructions for monitoring, event management, compute, storage, and automation activities. Support routine hardware and software administration, maintenance, and operational support tasks under the guidance of senior engineers or technical leads. Participate in continuous improvement of standards, procedures, documentation, and delivery processes for Enterprise Operations. Assist with documenting procedures, tool operations, operational diagrams, configuration details, and knowledge articles. Participate in planning, testing, and implementation activities for hardware, storage, operating system, monitoring, and automation platforms as assigned. Communicate work status, risks, blockers, and customer-impacting issues to the technical lead, service manager, or appropriate escalation contact. Coordinate with peer teams, vendors, or partners to support issue resolution when directed. Develop and maintain technical skills through formal training, informal learning, mentoring, and hands-on operational experience. Identify opportunities to improve monitoring, alert quality, runbooks, ticket handling, and operational consistency, and share recommendations with the team.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and/or Experience
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent technical training, certifications, or hands-on experience may be considered. 0–2 years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure support, monitoring, service desk, systems administration, or a related technical support role. Foundational understanding of operating systems, infrastructure concepts, cloud services, monitoring tools, and enterprise ticketing processes. Exposure to VMware, New Relic, HPE 3PAR, automation, scripting, virtual desktop infrastructure, or similar enterprise technologies preferred.
Skills/Abilities
Strong communication, collaboration, and customer service skills. Ability to follow documented procedures, runbooks, and escalation paths accurately. Ability to triage tickets, document troubleshooting steps, and provide clear status updates. Foundational troubleshooting skills for application, infrastructure, operating system, or monitoring-related issues. Working knowledge of operating systems, databases, web hosting, infrastructure concepts, and cloud fundamentals. Ability to research, investigate, and learn new technologies with guidance from senior team members. Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in an operational support environment. Experience with ServiceNow or another enterprise ticketing system preferred.

- US Salary range: $55,400-$83,000 Potential bonus up to: $5,500
Compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors which may include, but are not limited to, education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
