Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to strengthen our Data & AI capabilities within ABB Motion Drive Products and High Power Drives.

In this role, you will play a key part in designing, developing and continuously improving enterprise data solutions, with Snowflake as our primary data platform. You will work across the data engineering lifecycle, from source system integration and data modeling to developing scalable data pipelines, reusable data structures and production-ready data solutions.

Data Engineer takes technical ownership of data engineering implementations, contributes to data platform development and architecture, and helps establish common engineering practices that enable reliable, high-quality data for business analytics, reporting and AI applications.

You will join a skilled IT team and collaborate closely with Data Architects, Data Platform Owners, Data Owners, Data Analysts and business stakeholders across our global organization.

The role is based in either Helsinki, Finland, or Tallinn, Estonia. We offer a hybrid work model; however, the role requires regular on-site work at our offices in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki, or Jüri, Tallinn.

You will be mainly accountable for

Data Engineering & Development

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable, high-performance data solutions using Snowflake as the primary data platform
  • Optimize Snowflake workloads for performance, scalability, reliability and cost efficiency

Data Modeling & Architecture

  • Design and implement logical and physical data models, including dimensional models and reusable enterprise data structures
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable technical designs and data models
  • Contribute to common data models, reusable data products and enterprise data architecture standards

Data Integration & Platform Development

  • Design and implement robust data integrations across enterprise applications, databases, APIs and cloud storage services
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data platform capabilities, engineering frameworks and development standards
  • Ensure data quality, traceability, reliability and appropriate security controls throughout the data lifecycle

DevOps, Automation & Release Management

  • Implement and maintain Git-based development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and deployment processes
  • Develop monitoring, logging, error handling and data quality validation mechanisms for production data solutions
  • Support production operations and ensure solutions are maintainable, well-documented and aligned with established platform standards

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of relevant hands-on data engineering experience, including substantial experience developing solutions on Snowflake
  • Strong experience in data modeling, including relational, dimensional, logical and physical data model design
  • Proven experience designing and developing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and integrating data from multiple enterprise source systems
  • Good programming skills in Python for data engineering, automation and integration
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud data services, particularly Azure Data Lake Storage
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD practices, automated deployments and software engineering principles, preferably using Azure DevOps
  • Good English communication skills; Finnish or Estonian language skills are considered an advantage
  • Valid working permit to Finland or Estonia

Considered an advantage

  • Experience with additional enterprise data platforms such as Databricks or Microsoft Fabric
  • Experience with enterprise data governance, metadata management, data lineage and data product development
  • Experience developing data solutions for manufacturing, industrial operations or global enterprise environments
