Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Voyager team within Anduril's Connected Warfare division is an engineering and design group with deep experience developing innovative computing and communications solutions for the network edge. The team specialises in purpose-built hardware and software platforms designed to meet the most stringent environmental and operational requirements.
As Voyager's project portfolio grows in scale and technical complexity, we are restructuring how programmes are managed. We're moving away from a split PM model and toward a single Technical Program Manager who has genuine R&D experience — someone who can speak the engineers' language, make technical decisions with authority, and drive projects forward without needing to be hand-held.
ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking for a Technical Program Manager with a strong background in hardware and/or mechanical design to lead R&D programmes within the Voyager team. This is not a traditional programme management role — we need someone who has lived in R&D, understands what engineers are talking about at a component and system level, and can credibly challenge or guide technical direction.
You will take immediate ownership of live projects from day one, acting as the technical point of contact for direction, decision-making, and stakeholder reporting. You'll manage the full product lifecycle — from initial hardware and software prototyping through New Product Introduction (NPI) to mass production — ensuring that products are technically viable, robust, and aligned with customer needs.
This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role. You'll need to hit the ground running, earn the trust of multidisciplinary engineering teams quickly, and demonstrate strong independent judgment on when to decide and when to escalate.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own and drive R&D programmes end-to-end, from initial prototyping through NPI, production release, and End-of-Life (EOL), ensuring technical milestones are met at each phase.
- Act as the technical point of contact on your programmes — making decisions, unblocking engineers, and providing clear direction on priorities and trade-offs.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, mechanical, software, firmware, NPI, testing, and production teams to translate complex cross-functional needs into actionable technical requirements and product specifications.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation plans. Identify critical-path dependencies, manage supply chain risks, and handle long-lead-time components.
- Review, implement, and refine project management processes across a variety of product development activities using PLM systems and Jira, working with matrix teams and stakeholders across all disciplines.
- Partner with Product Owners, Contract Manufacturing Project Managers, and other stakeholders to define sprint goals aligned with key milestones and the long-term product roadmap.
- Maintain and continuously update the project Jira backlog. Monitor the active sprint board to identify and resolve blockers, map hardware-software dependencies, and groom high-priority tasks.
- Communicate and escalate issues and risks proactively to stakeholders and leadership, ensuring expectations are managed and progress is visible.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or electronic engineering.
- At least 3 years of hands-on design experience in a mechanical or electronic engineering role, with the ability to understand and challenge complex hardware, mechanical, and software design documentation.
- 5+ years of product/project management experience in a regulated R&D environment producing combined hardware, mechanical, and software solutions.
- Proven ability to act as the connective tissue between highly technical, multidisciplinary engineering teams — Mechanical (ME), Electrical (EE), Firmware (FW), Software (SW), and Quality Assurance (QA).
- Strong track record of delivering projects on time by combining clear stakeholder accountability with trusted working relationships.
- Experience with hybrid methodologies — aligning milestone-driven waterfall phases (EVT/DVT/PVT) with Agile/Scrum software sprints.
- Ability to manage critical-path risks including component lead times, prototyping delays, and cross-functional dependencies.
- Exceptional communication skills — able to extract core issues from diverse teams, translate them into actionable tasks, and resolve competing priorities.
- Technical literacy to actively participate in root-cause analysis, bug triaging, and design trade-off discussions.
- Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and MS Project. Experience with PLM tools (e.g., Arena, Windchill, Teamcenter) is a plus.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Agile Product Owner/Product Manager certification.
- PMP certification.
- Experience with Windchill, SAP, or Teamcenter.
- Previous experience in a defence technology or similarly regulated R&D environment.
