Financial Data Analyst Job Description
Beast Code is looking for a Financial Data Analyst to join our team as a data translator who can cut through complex numbers, spot operational trends, and help map out our financial future. As a Financial Data Analyst, you will operate at the intersection of our Business Administration Department, interacting with multiple facets of our matrixed organization. Working in a fast-paced environment, you’ll support our Finance team and will collaborate closely with other analysts, accounting professionals, and contracts administrators to build interactive reporting engines, forecast multi-year revenue models, and scale automated data pipelines.
Beast Code is growing a diverse portfolio of contracts, and this role directly influences that growth and overall impact on the business. From building custom dashboards and auditing variance trends to transforming manual spreadsheet processes into automated pipelines, you will make sure data is clean, scalable, and directly aligned with strategic company growth.
To connect complex technical data systems with real-world business outcomes, the ideal candidate is someone who looks at a massive dataset and sees a story waiting to be told. You don't just "run the numbers"—you dig deep to understand what drives business in the right direction, ask the right questions, and package your findings into clear "so what, now what" decisions. You are meticulously organized, value structure and precision in your financial models, and thrive in an environment where you can build elegant, repeatable technical solutions. (And yes, you are allowed to have a favorite Excel shortcut, we won’t judge…
Your day-to-day will look something like this
- Design, build, automate, and maintain recurring executive dashboards, revenue models, and operational forecasting tools to guide critical business decisions.
- Design rich graphic visualizations featuring modular dashboard layouts and intuitive user interfaces, integrating custom metrics, filters, charts, graphs, and tables.
- Maintain core data models for budgeting, variance analysis, and cash flow forecasting to ensure consistency and standardization.
- Act as the bridge between complex data systems and strategic financial planning, replacing manual spreadsheet processes with automated, scalable data pipelines.
- Leverage statistical, database, and business intelligence tools to analyze large financial datasets and advise on business objectives.
- Ensure rigorous adherence to compliance guidelines, audit standards, and internal financial policies while identifying process risks.
- Coordinate closely with contracts administrators and accountants to verify contract billing schedules, payments, and cost-control metrics.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and manage database metadata within internal systems.
This job might be for you if you bring:
- Experience: 2-7 years of overall financial data analysis or finance experience, with direct exposure to data modeling and reporting workflows.
- Versatile Tech Stack Toolkit: Proven experience executing data workflows using tools related to Excel VBA, Power Query, or SQL queries.
- Multiple Data Visualization Tools: Hands-on experience building reports across diverse dashboarding platforms, such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik Sense.
- System & Database Fluency: Highly versed navigating ERP/CRM systems, database management, cloud platforms, and business intelligence tools.
- Financial Acumen: Deep knowledge of reporting workflows, compliance tracking, forward-looking forecasting, financial planning, and measuring actual vs. budgeted results.
- Strategic Mindset: A highly analytical thinker comfortable tracking business KPIs and applying both Agile and Waterfall methodologies to business processes.
- Storytelling with Numbers: A proven ability to translate complex data into clear "so what, now what?" takeaways and actionable recommendations for non-finance leaders.
- Business Acumen: An instinctive drive to understand what truly moves the business, empowering you to ask the right strategic questions rather than simply running the numbers.
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to data integrity. You notice when figures don't reconcile, spot anomalies immediately, and hold your models to audit-ready standards.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with an over-communicator mindset, capable of building effective cross-functional partnerships across technical and executive teams.
Bonus Points if you have
- Direct experience within the federal government contracting (GovCon) sector.
- Experience communicating and collaborating asynchronously via Slack.
- A genuine desire and enthusiasm to work and grow within an award-winning company culture.
