About the Role
This is the first dedicated software product manager role at a high-growth life sciences research organization that processes roughly 10,000 biological samples per day and operates with a distinctive, non-venture-backed equity structure. You will own the full user journey from initial website interaction through logistics and payments, partnering directly with engineering and operations to raise the bar on experiences that today are functional but not yet world-class. Reporting to the product engineering leader and collaborating closely with the co-founder, you will shape the product roadmap from the ground up.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, customer-obsessed product manager with four to ten years of experience, ideally at B2B startups ranging from Seed to Series B. You are comfortable prototyping with AI tools, running your own customer tests, and moving fast without heavy process overhead. A background in complex or technical product domains such as fintech, developer tools, or scientific software will help you ramp quickly. If you genuinely enjoy rolling up your sleeves, talking to users, and solving hard problems in an environment where your work will be immediately visible, this one is worth a close look.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the end-to-end software product roadmap, from user onboarding and discoverability through payments and logistics
- Partner daily with engineering to scope, prioritize, and ship improvements that raise the quality of non-biology user experiences
- Use AI tools to prototype and validate concepts quickly, shortening the loop between idea and customer feedback
- Identify friction points in feature adoption and discoverability, then design and drive solutions with measurable outcomes
- Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to ensure product decisions account for real-world fulfillment complexity
- Conduct ongoing customer research and translate findings into clear, actionable product requirements
- Work directly with the co-founder and product engineering leader to align roadmap priorities with company strategy
Required Skills & Experience
- 4 to 10 years of product management experience, with meaningful time at B2B startups
- Experience at high-growth early-stage companies (Seed through Series B)
- Demonstrated ability to own a roadmap end to end and ship product improvements independently
- Hands-on prototyping skills and comfort using AI tools for rapid experimentation and customer testing
- Strong customer discovery and user research instincts
- Ability to work onsite in San Francisco three days per week
Preferred Skills
- Background in technically complex or domain-heavy products such as fintech, developer tools, or scientific software
- Ability to read, write, or ship code, or a strong enough technical foundation to collaborate deeply with engineers
- Experience improving B2B UX including payments, logistics, or workflow-heavy interfaces
- Early-stage startup experience where you were a founding or near-founding product team member
