AI Software Developer Intern - CorelDRAW

Push the boundaries of creative software, from wherever you work best.

Most interns are handed a side project. You’ll be handed a real one.

We’re looking for an AI Software Developer Intern to help the CorelDRAW engineering team work in a fundamentally new way. You’ll design and build AI agents that our developers use every day – on the codebase behind software that millions of people create with. Your work won’t sit in a sandbox; it will change how a veteran C++ team ships a 30-year-old product.

This is a six-month internship, fully remote, with the possibility of an extension.

The top creative and technical minds could work anywhere. So why are so many of them choosing Corel?

Here are three reasons

  • This is the moment. It’s an exciting time at Corel, with new leadership, a refreshed brand, and a whole new approach to changing the way the world works. We’re at the forefront of a movement, and we want you to ride this wave with us.
  • We want you to be you. Too often, companies tell you about their culture and then expect you to fit it. Our culture is built by the people who work here. We want you to feel safe to be who you are, take risks, and show us what you’ve got.
  • It’s your world. We know you have a life. We want to be part of it, but not all of it. At Corel, we’re serious about empowering people to work when, how, and where they do their best thinking. We believe that people who are trusted do their best work – and that happy employees mean happy customers. That’s why we hire exceptional people, give them real ownership, and support them all the way.

Sound like a good fit? Here’s a closer look at the role, what we’re looking for, and what you’ll take away from it.

The role

  • Design, build, and integrate AI agents and harnesses that support the CorelDRAW development team.
  • Apply AI to the daily developer workflow – assisted code review, unit test generation to improve coverage, and faster debugging – and help shape how the team adopts these tools.
  • Support AI initiatives across the wider development organization and share what you learn with the team.
  • Take part in daily scrum to plan and deliver new features.
  • Explore emerging AI tools and practices, and present promising ones to the team for adoption.

What you’ll take away

A six-month internship should leave you with more than a line on your résumé.

Here’s what we’ll make sure you leave with

  • Real experience in a large, mature C++ codebase – the kind most developers don’t touch until years into their career.
  • Practical judgment about AI-assisted development: where agents genuinely accelerate work, and where they quietly create problems.
  • A mentor on the CorelDRAW team, regular feedback, and code reviews that make you better.
  • Work that shipped, and the story of how you got it there.

What we’re looking for

  • Creative, curious, and genuinely passionate about software development.
  • A collaborator who is motivated by technical challenges, creative in solving them, and interested in new ways to help people create, collaborate, and do their best work.
  • A working foundation in C++ – coursework or personal projects are plenty. Familiarity with modern C++ (C++17 or newer) and secure coding habits is a plus, and you’ll build on both here.
  • Comfort in a large codebase, or the appetite to get there fast.
  • Genuinely energized by AI: you already experiment with AI coding assistants and agents, you have a feel for where they help and where they don’t, and you like the idea of making a whole team faster, not just yourself.
  • A fast, self-directed learner who keeps pace with emerging tools and practices.
  • Clear communication – you can explain a technical idea to someone who didn’t build it.
  • Strong time- and self-management, which matters on a remote team.
  • Care for product quality and attention to detail.

Not required, but useful if you have them

  • AI/LLM tools, APIs, or agent frameworks.
  • Building small tools or integrations around LLMs, for desktop or cloud.
  • C#, WPF/XAML, or C++/CLI.
  • Windows and/or macOS development, Microsoft Visual Studio, or Xcode.
  • Graphics applications and APIs, especially web-based ones.
  • Agile development practices.

Why Corel

  • CorelDRAW Graphics Suite is an award-winning solution that powers graphic design on Mac, Windows, and the web.
  • We have millions of users and decades of innovation under our belts.
  • We’re fully remote and work-from-anywhere – and we mean it. No office pressure, and flexible arrangements to suit how you work best.
  • Hours are flexible, too! You’ve worked hard to build your life, and we don’t want you to give it up for work.
  • Our team is growing fast, and it’s full of smart, motivated people ready to welcome you in.
  • We’re investing in AI across the business – both in the products our users rely on and in the tools and processes our engineers build with. We want people who will help drive those initiatives.

One more thing

if you’re reading the list above and you tick most of it but not all of it, apply anyway. We’re hiring for curiosity and judgment, and we’ll teach the rest.

What are you waiting for? Apply now! We can’t wait to meet you – and if you’ve built something with AI that you’re proud of, tell us about it in your application.

(We get a lot of interest and we appreciate every application. We’ll be in touch if you’re selected for an interview.)
