Senior data engineer for US Product Team at Danske Commodities. We’ll keep it in your applied jobs, so you can see it later and be warned before applying to the same employer twice.

## Quote

You’ll help shape the data platform behind US Power Trading, building scalable solutions on Databricks and Azure while exploring how AI can create smarter and more efficient ways of working.

## Here’s what the job entails

In this role, you will design, develop and implement scalable data infrastructure and pipelines that enable data-driven decision-making. You will improve workflows and platform services while ensuring high levels of data quality, reliability and maintainability. Working closely with stakeholders, you will translate business needs into well-designed technical solutions that support critical trading processes.

More specifically, your responsibilities include

  • designing and documenting data solutions, aligning the design with relevant architectural stakeholders, and taking responsibility for implementation and delivery quality
  • taking ownership of critical production issues, identifying root causes and driving pragmatic solutions that restore reliable operation and prevent recurrence
  • working closely with business stakeholders to understand processes, clarifying requirements and defining responsibilities, deliverables and success criteria for projects and tasks
  • acting as a technical sparring partner and mentor to fellow engineers by providing constructive feedback, sharing knowledge and helping shape the long-term product roadmap together with the product owner

## Meet your team

In the US Product Team, we collaborate closely with traders, quants, and engineers to design, scale, and operate the Databricks platform that underpins our algorithmic trading capabilities in US energy markets. We have the autonomy to drive technical decisions, experiment with emerging AI technologies, and influence the future direction of both our data platform and engineering culture.

We are a team of five experienced data and software engineers with different technical backgrounds, who value practical solutions and high engineering quality. We share knowledge openly, challenge ideas constructively and support one another when priorities or operational issues require a joint effort. We are curious about the energy trading business and collaborate across teams to understand the full value chain behind the systems we build. Thus, we sit close to the Quantitative Analysts and Traders for instant feedback and to make the business impact of our work visible.

## But enough about us… over to you!

As you will be working across the full lifecycle of data solutions, from business needs to operation, we imagine that you enjoy taking ownership and driving work forward independently. At the same time, you actively involve colleagues and stakeholders when alignment and shared decisions are needed, and you also enjoy communicating complex technical topics clearly.

Furthermore, we imagine that you

  • hold a relevant educational background in computer science, software engineering, data engineering or a similar technical field – or have equivalent practical experience
  • have solid experience from a data engineering role where you designed, built and operated production-grade data platforms and pipelines
  • are familiar with Databricks and data-related Azure technologies
  • are proficient in ETL/ELT development, data modelling and the design of scalable, maintainable data solutions
  • can translate business requirements into technical designs and communicate effectively with architects, product owners, engineers and business stakeholders
  • are proficient in English – both written and spoken

Please note that prior knowledge of the energy sector is not required for this role.
