Description

We are seeking an experienced Lead OutSystems Developer to provide technical leadership for the transition, enhancement and long-term ownership of strategic insurance platforms. Based in Pune, the role will lead solution design and delivery, develop scalable applications and enterprise integrations, uphold engineering standards, and guide developers while partnering with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects and QA teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the technical design, development and maintenance of scalable applications on the OutSystems platform.
• Lead the transition and long-term technical ownership of products and related insurance applications.
• Translate business and non-functional requirements into secure, maintainable solution designs, data models, business processes and user experiences.
• Design and govern integrations with internal and external systems using REST APIs and appropriate authentication mechanisms.
• Provide technical direction, estimation and delivery oversight across the development lifecycle.
• Set coding standards, conduct code and design reviews, and mentor developers to improve engineering quality and capability.
• Diagnose production issues, improve application performance and resilience, and ensure effective root-cause analysis.
• Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, QA and operational teams to manage dependencies, risks and delivery priorities.
• Lead knowledge-transfer activities, strengthen documentation and reduce reliance on external vendors and subject-matter experts.
• Ensure compliance with architecture, security, testing, release and change-management standards.
• Contribute to Agile ceremonies, release planning and continuous improvement of engineering practices.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Mandatory experience and education

• Total experience: 8–12 years in software development, including substantial experience delivering enterprise applications.
• Relevant experience: 5+ years of hands-on OutSystems development, with recent experience leading technical design, delivery or mentoring.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Desirable

• OutSystems Professional Developer or Tech Lead certification.
• Experience with insurance, claims or underwriting platforms and workflows.
• Experience integrating OutSystems applications with Azure services, enterprise identity, monitoring and deployment tooling.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices and automated quality controls.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale, business-critical applications.
• Familiarity with observability, application monitoring and performance optimisation.
• Strong experience with OutSystems 11, exposure to OutSystems Developer Cloud is desirable.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript, including the ability to troubleshoot custom extensions and front-end performance issues.

Essential (Non-Negotiable)

• 8+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years recent hands-on OutSystems development.
• Strong hands-on experience with OutSystems Service Studio, Service Center and LifeTime, including deployment, environment management, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Experience designing and supporting REST and SOAP integrations, including authentication, error handling, retries, logging and integration troubleshooting.
• Demonstrable experience leading technical design and delivery for complex enterprise applications.
• Strong understanding of modular OutSystems architecture, reusable services and components, dependency management, application layering and technical-debt remediation.
• Working SQL, relational data modelling and database optimisation skills.
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs, enterprise integrations, authentication and authorisation.
• Sound understanding of secure development, application security and non-functional requirements.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery, estimation, release planning and production support.
• Ability to conduct code reviews, establish engineering standards and mentor developers.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder-management skills.

Certification

OutSystems Professional Developer certification is preferred; OutSystems Tech Lead certification or equivalent advanced credential is highly desirable.
