  • Lead technical contributions to relevant industry standards-setting organizations on credentials, trust, assurance, privacy, and lifecycle controls.
  • Develop reference architectures and reference engineering implementations for issuer and verifier trust, holder binding, credential verification, and assurance evaluation.
  • Define patterns for credential status, expiration, revocation, key rotation, trust metadata, and lifecycle management.
  • Engineer privacy-preserving approaches to credential presentation, including selective disclosure, data minimization, and mitigation of unnecessary correlation.

  • Partner with product architects and engineers to apply credential trust capabilities to identity, commerce, and payment use cases, while product teams retain production delivery and operational ownership.
  • Maintain traceability between specifications, Chase requirements, trust architecture decisions, and engineering implementations.
  • Lead cross-functional technical delivery, mentor technologists, and return implementation and operational findings to standards development.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience, including 5+ years leading technologists to anticipate and solve complex technical challenges.
  • Deep experience in identity security, credential systems, public-key infrastructure, or federated trust architecture.
  • Strong understanding of digital signatures, cryptographic verification, key management, trust relationships, and credential lifecycle controls.
  • Practical experience implementing credential verification, trust evaluation, identity assurance, or comparable security capabilities.
  • Ability to distinguish identity, authentication, credential evidence, and authorization in architecture and implementation.
  • Demonstrated delivery of working software, reference architectures, security test assets, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with secure distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native engineering.
  • Ability to communicate complex trust and privacy decisions and resolve requirements across product, engineering, cybersecurity, and other accountable stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience with federation protocols, credential issuance and presentation standards, verifiable credentials, or selective-disclosure mechanisms.
  • Experience with wallet security, holder binding, trust chains, credential status, and verifier policy.
  • Contributions to trust frameworks, industry specifications, interoperability programs, or open-source security implementations.
  • Experience applying privacy and assurance requirements in financial services or another regulated environment.
  • Experience hiring, developing, or mentoring engineering talent.
