Position Summary

NANI is seeking a Data Reporting Analyst to develop, maintain, and improve reporting and analytics that support clinical care, operations, finance, reimbursement, auditing, and management. This position works with data from multiple electronic health record (EHR) systems, databases, and data warehouses to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable information.

The successful candidate will use SQL, Microsoft Power BI, and Excel to build reports, interactive dashboards, data extracts, and automated reporting processes. This is a hands-on role with accountability for data quality, stakeholder communication, and dependable delivery, with an emphasis on reducing manual reporting and improving access to current information.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting and dashboard development

Develop and maintain clinical, operational, financial, reimbursement, auditing, and management reports. Build interactive Power BI dashboards and Excel-based analytical tools that help teams monitor performance and make informed decisions.

Data extraction and integration

Write and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and extraction processes. Combine and reconcile information from Epic, NextGen, athenahealth, SQL Server, and other available data sources.

Clinical and coding analysis

Analyze patient populations, providers, encounters, diagnoses, procedures, laboratory results, and medication records. Incorporate ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and relevant medication classifications into reporting logic; evaluate laboratory dates and values and medication names, brands, and classifications.

Business requirements and delivery

Partner with clinical, operational, billing, reimbursement, auditing, finance, and management teams to define reporting needs, business rules, and acceptance criteria. Prioritize requests, communicate progress, and deliver against agreed deadlines.

Data quality and troubleshooting

Validate results, reconcile source-system differences, and investigate discrepancies in clinical, laboratory, medication, billing, reimbursement, and encounter data. Resolve reporting, database, and application issues with the appropriate teams.

Automation and standardization

Automate recurring reports and data-processing workflows, improve refresh processes, and reduce manual effort. Maintain consistent definitions and update reports as business, clinical, and regulatory requirements change.

Quality and performance analytics

Identify trends in outcomes, utilization, cost of care, reimbursement, and operational performance. Support value-based care, population health, and quality reporting, including Kidney Care Choices (KCC) reporting when applicable.

Documentation and change readiness

Document data sources, calculations, business rules, SQL logic, and reporting processes. Test and validate reporting impacts from EHR, database, interface, and process changes; provide backup for critical reports and reporting-team responsibilities.

Privacy and security

Protect confidential information and protected health information (PHI). Follow HIPAA and NANI requirements for data access, handling, storage, and sharing.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare reporting and data analysis using EHR systems such as Epic, NextGen, and athenahealth, including large datasets from multiple sources.
  • Strong SQL skills, including joins, aggregations, subqueries, transformations, stored procedures, and validation; experience with Microsoft SQL Server or a comparable relational database platform.
  • Experience developing Microsoft Power BI reports and dashboards, along with strong Excel skills in PivotTables, formulas, data analysis, and data manipulation.
  • Experience reporting on laboratory and medication data, with an understanding of patient, provider, encounter, diagnosis, procedure, scheduling, billing, reimbursement, and operational information.
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems and their application to healthcare reporting and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to validate data, reconcile differences across source systems, investigate root causes, and deliver accurate reporting solutions.
  • Ability to translate business questions into reporting requirements and explain findings clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and appropriate handling of PHI and confidential healthcare information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Epic Caboodle certification; experience with Epic Caboodle or Clarity data; additional Epic reporting and analytics certifications or proficiencies.
  • Experience with nephrology billing and coding, healthcare claims, reimbursement, revenue cycle, or auditing.
  • Familiarity with value-based care and the Kidney Care Choices (KCC) Model, including quality measures, population health, patient outcomes, utilization, cost of care, and performance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) codes, medication terminology, generic and brand drug names, and drug classification systems.
  • Experience integrating or reconciling data across Epic, NextGen, and athenahealth; experience with ETL processes, enterprise data warehouses, and data pipelines.
  • Advanced Power BI skills in data modeling and DAX; experience automating recurring reporting and data-processing workflows.
  • Experience with Visual Basic or VB.NET, Python, or Microsoft Visual Studio for reporting tools, application development, or automation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, data analytics, healthcare informatics, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Measures of Success

Performance will be evaluated against agreed baselines and priorities, with an emphasis on reliable reporting and practical business outcomes:

  • Accurate, validated reports and dashboards delivered within agreed timelines.
  • Reduced manual reporting effort through automation and standardized processes.
  • Reliable data refreshes and timely investigation and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Clear request ownership, stakeholder communication, and documentation of reporting logic.
  • Reports and dashboards that meet stakeholder needs and support clinical, operational, financial, and quality decisions.

Work Expectations

Work independently and collaboratively with clinical, business, and technology teams. Maintain ownership of assigned requests, provide backup for critical reporting processes, and follow NANI privacy and security requirements. Continue developing knowledge of healthcare systems, analytics tools, coding, medication classifications, and value-based care reporting.
