Join a collaborative development team responsible for a mission-critical SCADA platform used by dispatchers 24/7 to maintain the balance and reliability of large-scale power operations. As the platform continues to expand, new energy assets and flexibility resources are continuously integrated to support evolving business and operational needs.
The team develops and maintains software solutions that enable the real-time monitoring and control of production assets, the integration of flexibility services, and compliance with industry regulations supporting the energy transition.
These solutions are used to
- Monitor production assets and available generation capacities in real time.
- Facilitate information exchange between transmission system operators (TSOs) and the SCADA environment.
- Process operational data, production plans and balancing signals to calculate and dispatch real-time setpoints to production assets.
- Support ancillary services such as Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR), Automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve (aFRR) and Manual Frequency Restoration Reserve (mFRR), helping ensure the stability and balance of the power system.
In this role, you will contribute to the continuous evolution of critical applications that play a key role in maintaining grid stability while supporting the transition towards a more sustainable and low-carbon energy future.
Your specific role
- Our real-time platform is built on MicroSCADA X SYS600, a mission-critical SCADA solution used to support power generation control through custom logic and real-time automated decision-making. Back-end logic is developed in SCIL (Supervisory Control Implementation Language), the native language of the platform. No prior SCIL experience is required. You will benefit from dedicated training, ongoing coaching, and hands-on support from experienced team members while developing expertise in industrial automation and real-time systems.
- Alongside SCIL development, you will design and build modern web interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and TypeScript within the SCADA ecosystem. Working on both strategic projects and continuous improvements, you will help shape the next generation of industrial applications supporting real-time energy operations.
- AI-assisted engineering: we leverage AI-powered tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate repetitive tasks, support testing activities, improve documentation, and speed up troubleshooting and code understanding. While AI helps increase efficiency, developers remain fully responsible for architecture, design decisions, code quality, and operational reliability. We continuously explore practical AI use cases that bring measurable value in an industrial environment.
As a developer, your role is to
- Develop and maintain critical SCADA applications that support real-time energy operations and contribute to the balance and stability of the power system.
- Design and develop clear, responsive web interfaces for operational users while contributing to the underlying back-end logic and business processes.
- Apply software engineering best practices and software craftsmanship principles (SOLID, DRY, KISS, YAGNI) to build scalable, maintainable, resilient, and high-quality solutions.
- Collaborate in an Agile environment with analysts, dispatchers, and technical teams to deliver reliable and business-critical applications.
- Contribute to the continuous evolution and modernization of the SCADA ecosystem using modern development tools and practices, including Git-based workflows.
- Following a comprehensive onboarding period, participate in a shared on-call rotation (compensated and primarily remote) to help ensure platform availability and operational continuity. Our systems operate 24/7, and critical incidents are always handled collaboratively as a team.
- Master's degree in IT, Software Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Electromechanics, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in an industrial OT environment or a comparable real-time / mission-critical environment.
- A genuine interest in building reliable, well-designed software for industrial systems, with a solid understanding of software architecture and engineering best practices.
- A proactive and curious mindset, combined with a structured way of working. You take pride in contributing to the reliability of systems that operate 24/7 and continuously look for ways to improve them.
- A collaborative approach and strong sense of ownership. You enjoy working with developers, analysts, architects and business stakeholders to solve complex problems together.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling you to interact effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues as well as operational teams.
- Fluent English (spoken and written) is essential. Knowledge of French and/or Dutch is a plus, but not required. English-only candidates are welcome to apply.
All our positions are open to both women and men and are, of course, open to people with disabilities.
