Seattle HQ
EG Ads is making measurement a unified, AI-powered capability that proves the incremental value of every EG Ads product, and a main reason advertisers choose us and stay with us.
We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to set and lead the experience vision for this work. You’ll turn Expedia Group’s rich data on properties, partners, budgets, and campaign performance into clear, trustworthy insights that advertisers can act on.
This is a new, high-visibility focus area for the Ads organization going into 2027. You’ll partner closely with product, engineering, and research leaders in our Seattle headquarters, within a tech-native design team and a highly cross-functional Ads organization.
Overview of Business Area
Measurement, reporting, and insights are a new strategic priority for EG Ads. We have a big opportunity to bring Expedia Group’s data to the front of the tools and infrastructure our advertisers and partners use every day.
The work spans two connected focus areas
- Attribution, Incrementality & Measurement Excellence: proving the true, incremental impact of every EG Ads product.
- Reporting & Insights: turning complex performance data into clear, timely, actionable stories for advertisers and partners.
Many of the people who manage advertising accounts with Expedia Group, from hotel marketers to the executive teams of global hospitality brands, aren’t data experts. Your job is to make complex data feel simple, credible, and useful to them.
Overview of Our Team
We help travelers go places with relevant media products that solve real traveler problems.
Our ads follow the natural form and function of our sites, so they feel like part of the experience, while helping partners reach their advertising goals through proven tactics that deliver measurable results.
Our suite of products, tools, and analytics helps partners inspire, engage, and convert travelers worldwide.
This role focuses on the partner side of that experience: the self-serve tools, dashboards, and reporting that advertisers use to plan, manage, and measure their campaigns.
You’ll be among the first designers dedicated to this space, so you’ll have real ownership over how we approach it.
In This Role, You Will
VISION AND STRATEGY
- Define and lead the end-to-end experience vision for EG Ads measurement, reporting, and insights, from early concepts to shipped product.
- Work with product and engineering partners to frame complex, ambiguous problems, and explore several strong solutions to move the product direction forward.
- Advocate for experience design priorities with long-term strategy in mind, and help build the experience roadmap for measurement and insights.
- Help shape both business metrics and experience success metrics, and keep them aligned.
DATA VISUALIZATION AND INFORMATION DESIGN
- Design clear, intuitive ways for advertisers and partners to explore, understand, and act on large, complex datasets, including attribution, incrementality, campaign performance, and budget pacing.
- Build scalable, reusable data visualization patterns and components (charts, dashboards, reports, and insight modules), and add them to the design system so data is shown consistently across EG Ads tools.
- Create data-driven narratives for executive and internal audiences, turning dense findings into simple, digestible stories.
- Bring a clear point of view on data visualization tools, standards, and best practices, and champion them across the team.
- Explore how AI and agentic experiences can surface insights, explain performance, and recommend next steps to advertisers.
CRAFT, RESEARCH, AND EXECUTION
- Analyze and synthesize research and test findings to uncover new insights, and weigh them against technical and business considerations to choose the right solution.
- Partner with product managers to deliver the highest-value improvements, based on customer and market insights.
- Design simple, elegant, trustworthy experiences that are accessible and inclusive for diverse users, and hold the team to a high quality bar.
- Use interactive, code-based prototypes, including AI and agentic prototyping tools, to test ideas quickly and communicate interaction and data behavior.
- Work closely with engineers to ensure high-quality implementation, knowing when a technical constraint is firm and when it’s worth challenging convention.
COLLABORATION AND INFLUENCE
- Tell compelling stories that influence decisions and align senior stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Research, Data Science, and Sales.
- Stay calm and constructive through ambiguity, shifting priorities, and tense conversations, and help the people around you do the same.
- Build healthy feedback practices within the experience design team and with peer teams, and celebrate team wins.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in User Experience Design or a related design field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 10+ years of professional experience in user experience design, product design, or a related field.
- A portfolio that shows your work at each stage of the product life cycle, from concept to release, including the team, your thought process, outcomes, and pivots along the way. Please include examples of data-rich or information-dense experiences.
- Proven experience designing data visualization, dashboards, reporting, analytics, or other information-dense product experiences that make complex data clear and actionable.
- Experience turning product requirements into a design strategy and delivering solutions that meet those requirements.
- Experience mapping customer journeys and using user stories and personas to inform design strategy.
- Experience creating design deliverables at multiple fidelities, with an emphasis on interactive, code-based prototypes.
- Experience using and contributing to design systems and shared component libraries for consistency and speed.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Content, and Research.
- Ability to do well in high ambiguity and to bring structure to new, greenfield problem spaces.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting work and defending design decisions.
- Strong attention to design and visual detail.
- Working knowledge of current design tools (such as Figma) and agentic prototyping tools (such as Claude or Cursor).
- Experience using emerging AI tools thoughtfully to speed up design work without lowering quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in information design or data visualization, or experience designing analytics, measurement, or business intelligence products (for example, in fintech, ad tech, marketing technology, or B2B SaaS).
- Hands-on experience with data visualization tools or libraries (such as D3.js, Observable, Tableau, or Looker), or a front-end or design engineering background.
- Familiarity with measurement concepts such as attribution, incrementality, A/B testing, and performance reporting.
- Experience designing B2B, self-serve, or enterprise tools for business users who aren’t data specialists.
- Experience designing for agentic or AI-powered platforms and tools, including AI-generated insights or recommendations.
- Experience working with UX researchers and data scientists, and using research insights to inform design decisions.
- Experience designing for human diversity, including internationalization, localization, and accessibility (for example, accessible color and chart design).
- Experience designing across multiple devices, webviews, and browsers.
- Experience presenting to executive audiences.
- Advertising industry experience is a plus, but not required.
