AI Architect

Overview

As an AI Architect at Expleo, you will play a key role in helping our clients identify, design and deliver AI solutions that solve genuine business challenges.

Working across Expleo’s client portfolio, you will engage with senior stakeholders, business teams, risk functions and technology leaders to understand their objectives, existing technology landscape, data environment and regulatory requirements. You will translate these into practical, secure and scalable AI architectures that can move beyond proof of concept and deliver measurable value in production.

This is a highly client-facing role combining consulting, solution architecture and technical leadership. You will support engagements from early discovery and pre-sales through architecture, delivery and scale, working closely with Expleo delivery teams and our clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI solution architecture across client engagements, translating business requirements into pragmatic and scalable technical solutions.
• Work consultatively with clients, challenging assumptions and helping stakeholders determine where AI genuinely adds value and where traditional automation, software or human intervention is more appropriate.
• Support pre-sales and solutioning, including discovery workshops, use-case assessment, architecture definition, estimation and identification of technical or delivery risks.
• Design enterprise AI solutions using technologies including LLMs, RAG, agents, machine learning, workflow orchestration and traditional software components.
• Define integration with existing enterprise platforms, identity and access management, systems of record, data platforms and APIs.
• Advise clients on technology choices across Azure, AWS and Google Cloud, balancing capability, cost, security, scalability, data residency and existing client environments.
• Ensure solutions meet appropriate security, governance and regulatory requirements, including GDPR, the EU AI Act and relevant sector-specific requirements.
• Establish approaches for AI evaluation, testing, monitoring, accuracy and hallucination management before solutions move into production.
• Provide technical leadership throughout delivery, working with Expleo engineers, consultants, delivery leads and client teams to maintain architectural integrity.
• Develop reusable Expleo AI accelerators, reference architectures, frameworks and governance assets that can support future client engagements.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to the continued development of AI capability and knowledge across Expleo.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients, communicating complex architectural decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Essential skills

• Strong hands-on understanding of modern AI application patterns, including RAG, tool use, agents and orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, Semantic Kernel or Microsoft Agent Framework.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise AI and cloud services within at least one major platform:
• Azure: Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, AI Search, Functions, AKS and API Management
• AWS: Bedrock, Lambda, EKS and Step Functions
• Google Cloud: Vertex AI, Cloud Run, GKE and Pub/Sub
• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, including integration, identity, security, resilience, scalability, data governance and cloud cost management.
• Good working knowledge of GDPR, AI regulation and responsible AI principles.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and consulting skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic and commercially aware approach to solution design.
• Ability to balance technical best practice with client requirements, delivery constraints and business value.

Desired skills

• Previous experience working within a consultancy, professional services or client-facing technology environment.
• Experience supporting bids, proposals, solutioning or technical estimation.
• Experience within sectors such as financial services, insurance, healthcare, utilities or other regulated industries.
• Familiarity with workflow and event-driven technologies including Temporal, Camunda and Kafka, as well as MCP.
• Relevant architecture or cloud certifications such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or TOGAF.

Experience

• 10+ years’ experience across software engineering, solution architecture or enterprise architecture.
• Significant experience designing and delivering production AI/ML solutions within large or complex organisations.
• Experience evaluating, monitoring and governing AI systems in production environments.
• Experience working within enterprise or regulated environments, with an understanding of data protection, AI regulation and responsible AI.
• Experience engaging with senior client stakeholders, risk and governance teams and technical delivery teams.
• Previous consultancy, professional services or client-facing experience would be highly beneficial.
