Field Service Technician – Industrial Packaging Equipment

Ball Ground, GA | Travel 50-65% of the time and onsite, remainder of time

Are you the person everyone calls when a machine stops working?

If you enjoy troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems, working directly with customers, and figuring out what it takes to get equipment back up and running, this may be the kind of Field Service role you've been looking for.

Harpak-ULMA is looking for a Field Service Technician to install, troubleshoot, repair and support automated packaging equipment at customer facilities across the country.

You'll work with a wide variety of equipment, including tray sealers, flow wrappers, fillers, bagging equipment, cartoning systems, thermoformers and other automated packaging technologies.

What You'll Do

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment issues.
  • Install, set up and support automated packaging systems at customer locations.
  • Diagnose equipment problems and help customers get their operations back up and running.
  • Work with mechanical, electrical and PLC-related systems.
  • Provide both onsite and remote technical support.
  • Help customers understand proper machine operation and preventative maintenance.
  • Collaborate with experienced technicians, engineers and service managers when additional expertise is needed.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with industrial machinery, automated equipment, packaging equipment or similar systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to diagnose problems independently and find practical solutions.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Comfortable working independently at customer locations.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and adapt to changing customer schedules.

Packaging equipment experience is helpful, but experience servicing other types of industrial or automated machinery may also translate well to this role.

We'll Invest in Your Training

You don't need to know every Harpak-ULMA machine on day one.

You'll receive a combination of online learning, hands-on training and field shadowing with experienced technicians and engineers. As your knowledge grows, you'll take on increasingly complex troubleshooting, service and installation assignments.

Why Harpak-ULMA?

Build real technical expertise.

Work across multiple equipment technologies and product lines rather than servicing the same machine every day.

Solve different problems.

Customer sites, equipment and technical challenges change, giving you exposure to a wide range of real-world situations.

Grow your career.

Continue developing your mechanical, electrical, controls and field-service knowledge alongside experienced technical professionals.

Make a visible impact.

When customer equipment goes down, your expertise helps get their operation moving again.

Ready for Your Next Challenge?

If you have a strong mechanical/electrical foundation, enjoy troubleshooting machinery and like the idea of traveling and working directly with customers, we'd like to talk with you.

Apply today to learn more about joining Harpak-ULMA's Field Service team.
