Trades Inspector

Job Description

The pay range for this position is $24.64 - $34.28 per hour and will be based on skills and experience.

The Level II Visual Trades Inspector (VT) is responsible for inspecting the ships structure and piping.

• The inspection process requires both final, and in process, inspections of location, fit up, and welds.
• Provide oversight on quality of various products manufactured at Bath Iron Works.
• Interact with production supervision and other customers, both internal and external, on structure, outfitting, and piping.

Required/Preferred Education/Training

• Experience in at least 1 of the following 3 trades: Welding, Shipfitting, or Pipefitting required.
• Must be able to read either structural, outfitting, or pipe drawings and understand symbols.
• Must be able to obtain Level II VT certification
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• BIW Apprentice graduate preferred.

Required/Preferred Experience

• 5 years’ experience in shipbuilding processes preferred.
• Strong background in either welding, structure, or pipe required.
• Safety conscious dependable individual with strong work ethic.
• The ability to work independently and perform multiple tasks in structure, outfitting, and piping.
• The ability to deal with conflict in a professional manner.
