About the Role
Hour Consulting is hiring a Full Stack Developer on behalf of our client to join a collaborative engineering team delivering modern, cloud-native applications for enterprise clients.
We are open to candidates at different stages of their careers, from exceptional new graduates to experienced intermediate developers.
Whether you're beginning your software engineering career or already have several years of hands-on experience, we're looking for someone who demonstrates strong technical ability, excellent communication skills, curiosity, and a genuine interest in building high-quality software.
You'll work on meaningful enterprise digital transformation projects, collaborating with experienced developers, architects, and engineering teams across Canada and India.
The level of responsibility will reflect your experience, technical capabilities, and ability to contribute independently.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain modern full-stack web applications.
- Build and integrate frontend interfaces, backend services, and APIs.
- Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to support scalable applications.
- Contribute to cloud-native development and deployment.
- Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, testing, and performance improvements.
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or Cursor to support coding, testing, and documentation.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, and stakeholders across Canada and India.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, and reviews.
- Take increasing ownership of features and technical decisions as your experience grows.
What We're Looking For
We are considering candidates across three experience levels for this position.
New Graduate (0–1 Year of Experience)
We're interested in exceptional new graduates who demonstrate strong software engineering fundamentals, problem-solving abilities, and the potential to grow quickly.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong programming fundamentals and understanding of software development principles.
- Experience building applications through academic projects, internships, co-op placements, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with databases, APIs, and modern development practices.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- No specific technology stack required, provided you demonstrate strong technical foundations.
Junior Developer (1–4 Years of Experience)
We're looking for developers with practical software development experience who are ready to expand their technical responsibilities.
- 1–4 years of relevant software development experience.
- Hands-on experience developing web applications.
- Exposure to frontend frameworks such as React, Next.js, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Experience with backend technologies such as Node.js, Python, Java, or .NET.
- Working knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with Git, APIs, and collaborative development workflows.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP is an asset.
- Experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, or NestJS is preferred but not mandatory.
Intermediate Developer (4–7 Years of Experience)
We're looking for experienced, hands-on developers who can independently deliver features and contribute to technical decisions.
- 4–7 years of relevant professional software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript and JavaScript.
- Backend development experience using Node.js and NestJS or comparable frameworks.
- Strong frontend development experience using React and Next.js.
- Experience designing and integrating REST APIs.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Hands-on cloud development experience, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, and modern development workflows.
- Ability to take ownership of features from development through deployment.
- Experience collaborating with technical teams and business stakeholders.
Requirements for All Candidates
Regardless of experience level, successful candidates must demonstrate:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and take ownership.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed engineering teams.
- Interest in modern software development practices and AI-assisted engineering.
- Ability to work from the Liberty Village office four days per week.
- Comfort working in a Mac/Unix-based development environment.
Bonus If You Have
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or Cursor.
- Personal or professional projects involving AI, LLMs, AI agents, or API integrations.
- Experience with Azure AI, OpenAI APIs, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
- Exposure to Docker, containers, serverless technologies, or cloud infrastructure.
- Experience working in Agile environments using Jira.
- Previous experience with consulting firms or enterprise software projects.
- Experience collaborating with offshore or distributed development teams.
- A GitHub portfolio, open-source contributions, or personal technical projects demonstrating your abilities.
Who Will Thrive Here?
You'll thrive in this environment if you
- Enjoy solving problems rather than simply completing tickets.
- Take ownership and proactively move work forward.
- Think critically and ask thoughtful questions.
- Learn new technologies quickly and independently.
