We're looking for a seasoned DBA who takes ownership of enterprise data environments and consistently delivers stable, secure, high-performing systems.
What You'll Do
- Own the full lifecycle of enterprise databases in a client/server architecture, from initial design and build through ongoing maintenance
- Partner with IT leadership to forecast future database needs and shape long-term architecture plans
- Audit databases regularly to confirm data integrity and proper usage
- Guide end users on how to access and work with the organization's databases
- Engineer and manage access methods, storage allocation, data validation, performance tuning, and security protections
- Write SQL and other database code, and contribute to broader systems design efforts
- Maintain data dictionaries, enforce standards and procedures, and integrate systems through sound database design
What You Bring
- A degree in Computer Science, IT, Information Systems, or a related field, or relevant technical certifications plus 7+ years of DBA experience in a DoD or federal enterprise setting
- 3+ years working hands-on with relational database platforms, along with comfort across multiple operating systems and programming languages
- Experience on at least two large-scale database efforts covering administration, operations, maintenance, and security
- A track record of building and testing backup, recovery, and continuity plans for enterprise data
- Working knowledge of federal security frameworks (NIST 800-53, STIGs, RMF) and how to apply them at the database level
- Strong performance tuning skills, including query optimization, indexing, and execution plan analysis
- Experience applying vulnerability-driven patches and updates under DoD directives
- Ability to produce architecture diagrams, data dictionaries, and standard operating procedures
Requirements
- Active Secret clearance
- DoD 8140 (formerly 8570) compliant certification at IAT Level II, such as Security+ CE
