Data Analytics & Automation Co-op

JDS Energy & Mining provides engineering, project management, and construction services to the resource and energy sectors. We deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions for mining projects worldwide, with a focus on safety, collaboration, and technical excellence.

We are seeking a motivated Data Analytics & Automation Co-op to help turn business data into useful insights and develop practical tools that improve internal workflows.

The co-op will contribute to a range of initiatives that support JDS's digital and operational efficiency, including but not limited to applying large language models (LLMs) to extract relevant data from unstructured documents, optimizing storage and information architecture, developing automated data pipelines and API integrations, and delivering Power BI dashboards that support data-driven decision-making.

This role is ideal for a student who enjoys programming, working with data, and finding better ways to get things done. We are looking for candidates who are curious, adaptable, and eager to learn. Prior experience with every technology listed is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing AI and data analytics solutions to solve business challenges.
• Prepare, clean, transform, and analyze data using Python and SQL.
• Assist with API integration, including connections to Microsoft 365 services and platforms.
• Create dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate insights.
• Automate processes using Python and/or Power Automate.
• Use version control tools to manage code and collaborate with team members.
• Participate in technical discussions, solution design sessions, and project meetings.
• Document technical processes, findings, and project outcomes.
• Stay current with AI trends, tools, and best practices.
