In this senior-level role, you will help ensure that data products are reliable, accessible, discoverable, and fit for mission-critical use. Acting as the quality and testing authority, you will connect engineering teams with data consumers, validating data pipelines, APIs, and product functionality from the end user's perspective. You will contribute to the adoption of a data mesh environment by helping users find, understand, and make effective use of available data products. Through testing, documentation, and direct feedback from mission partners, you will help drive continuous improvements in both data quality and platform capabilities. This is a remote position, with occasional meetings required at Joint Base Andrews.
Accountabilities
- Develop and execute test plans for data pipelines, APIs, and data products to verify accuracy, completeness, functionality, and compliance with documented requirements.
- Perform functional testing from the perspective of data consumers, ensuring products are discoverable in the ACDC catalog, accessible through APIs, and consistent with their documented metadata.
- Serve as the primary quality assurance and testing authority for data products, providing a link between technical engineering teams and mission users.
- Support the adoption of the Data Mesh Environment (DME) as a member of the Enabling Team, helping consumers locate, understand, and use data products effectively.
- Create, maintain, and improve user-facing documentation, tutorials, and getting-started guides to support data consumers.
- Gather feedback from early adopters and mission partners, translating their needs and experiences into actionable recommendations for engineering teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on data products, quality standards, and the broader platform.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to communicate testing findings, identify issues, and support effective solutions.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of relevant professional experience, with a Master's degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong practical experience with API testing tools such as Postman, data catalog interfaces such as ACDC, and data validation techniques.
- Working knowledge of SQL and scripting languages such as Python for data analysis, testing, and validation.
- Experience in quality assurance, data quality management, software testing, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess data from both technical and mission-user perspectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate consumer needs into clear technical feedback.
- Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional technical teams and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance, with the ability to acquire TS/SCI eligibility.
- Willingness and ability to attend occasional meetings at Joint Base Andrews.
Benefits
- Remote work arrangement, with occasional in-person meetings at Joint Base Andrews.
- Opportunity to contribute to data capabilities supporting national security missions.
- Collaborative environment working alongside experienced technical and mission-focused professionals.
- Opportunity to influence data quality, product usability, and the adoption of data mesh practices.
- Professional growth through engagement with data engineering, testing, and mission-support initiatives.
