This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a ServiceNow Engineer – Secret Clearance based in the United States.
As a ServiceNow Engineer, you will provide advanced engineering, development, and integration support for a large-scale enterprise ServiceNow platform within a federal IT environment. You will design and implement complex solutions that enhance platform performance, scalability, security, and operational efficiency. Working closely with product owners, process leads, and technical teams, you will deliver new capabilities, upgrades, and integrations while ensuring minimal disruption to mission-critical services. You will also leverage scripting, automation, and modern engineering practices to optimize platform administration and deployment processes. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to strategic enterprise technology initiatives while supporting highly regulated environments. The position is fully remote, with occasional travel to U.S. continental bases for stakeholder engagement and project support.
Accountabilities
- Design, develop, configure, and implement complex ServiceNow solutions across multiple modules, including ITSM, ITOM, SPM, SAM, SecOps, and other enterprise applications.
- Ensure platform configurations, customizations, and implementations comply with established architecture, governance, security, and development standards.
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot integrations between ServiceNow and third-party enterprise systems using APIs, web services, MID servers, and related technologies.
- Connect the ServiceNow platform with monitoring, identity management, and business applications to ensure reliable data exchange and seamless operations.
- Plan and execute platform upgrades, patches, enhancements, and maintenance activities, including regression testing, validation, and rollback planning.
- Configure and customize workflows, forms, dashboards, and data models to address business and operational requirements while maintaining platform performance and supportability.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure platform configurations, integrations, and data management practices meet federal security requirements and organizational policies.
- Apply scripting and automation techniques to streamline platform administration, deployment, maintenance, and recurring operational tasks.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues across application, integration, and infrastructure layers, conducting root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Work closely with product owners, process leads, and infrastructure teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, configuration standards, procedures, and knowledge-transfer materials to support operational continuity and audit readiness.
- Contribute to platform modernization and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring the ServiceNow environment remains reliable, secure, and aligned with evolving organizational needs.
- Travel occasionally (less than 10%) to CONUS locations to support stakeholder engagement and platform-related initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience supporting, engineering, or developing ServiceNow environments, preferably within large-scale, multi-module enterprise instances.
- Demonstrated expertise in configuring and customizing core ServiceNow applications and developing integrations with third-party systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of APIs, web services, MID servers, and enterprise integration technologies.
- Experience designing and maintaining ServiceNow workflows, forms, dashboards, data models, and platform configurations.
- Proven experience planning and executing ServiceNow upgrades, patches, and enhancements within formal change-management frameworks, including testing, validation, and rollback procedures.
- Strong scripting, automation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex platform and integration issues.
- A current Secret security clearance is mandatory.
- A valid CompTIA Security+ certification or another DoD IAT Level II-compliant certification is required.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with product owners, process leads, security specialists, and infrastructure teams.
- Strong documentation skills and the ability to develop clear technical procedures, configuration standards, and operational guidance.
- Willingness and ability to undertake occasional domestic travel (less than 10%) to U.S. continental bases.
Preferred qualifications
- Multiple ServiceNow certifications, such as Certified System Administrator (CSA), Certified Application Developer (CAD), or Implementation Specialist certifications.
- ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) certification is a significant advantage but not required.
- Experience leading enterprise-wide ServiceNow initiatives, including CMDB architecture and design, Common Service Data Model (CSDM), service mapping, multi-instance consolidation, or platform modernization.
- Familiarity with cloud engineering practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), scripting, environment orchestration, and provisioning.
- Previous experience supporting ServiceNow platforms in federal government or similarly regulated environments, with a strong understanding of security, compliance, and audit requirements.
Benefits
- Competitive annual salary ranging from $94,000 to $152,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Fully remote working arrangement, allowing you to work from anywhere in the United States.
- Full-time employment opportunity supporting enterprise technology initiatives in a federal IT environment.
- Opportunity to work on complex ServiceNow implementations, integrations, and platform modernization projects.
- Exposure to advanced enterprise technologies, automation practices, and cloud engineering methodologies.
- Opportunities to expand technical expertise and leverage industry-recognized ServiceNow certifications.
