JOB SUMMARY

Designs and develops software for a suite of Electric Power Grid applications within the Grid & Market Solutions (Client) Technology Development – Grid team. The application suite includes Energy Management System (EMS), Gridgeo, Real-Time Operator Communication (RTOC) and Network Model Management System (NMMS). Ensures adherence to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes, including full stack development, testing and validation of grid applications and user interface changes, to deliver high-quality software solutions. This role also incorporates modern technologies such as containerization, cloud platforms, and AI/ML to enhance scalability, performance, and advanced analytics capabilities. This position reports to the Supervisor/Manager of Client Technology Development – Grid.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES

Level 2 – Above +

• Experience: 2+ years
• Analyzes, troubleshoots, identifies root cause of applications issues, and works with team to develop and deliver software solutions to resolve the issues.
• Participates in developing design specs that are in compliance with *** product architectural blueprint.
• Help research, evaluate, and incorporate new technologies and tools to enhance the product development process.
• Resolves customer complaints with products and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
• Assist in development of product user manuals
• Provide timely software solutions to address applications critical production issues as a level 2 developer .
• Works closely with Client production support and other teams as needed to provide technical support on the supported applications..
• Automates software development processes using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools such as Bitbucket, Apache Maven/Jenkins etc.
• Demo/present application related enhancements in department/inter-departmental meetings.
• Assists in developing tools, processes and procedures that improve Client applications software development and departmental/organizational efficiencies.
• Leverages AI tools like GitHub copilot to accelerate software development, unit testing, integration testing and test coverage.
• Effectively leverages GEN AI tools like GPT, Claude models for daily software development, AI-assisted engineering and prompt optimization.
• Learns and works with data sets and data pipeline processes to move data from source to Databricks using Airflow.

Level 3 - Above +

• Experience: 3+ years
• Analyze applications and third-party software security vulnerabilities, fix and deliver security patch .
• Works with business users closely on requirements and improvements and proposes design changes.
• Perform code reviews, add code review comments and suggest best practices and patterns as needed.
• Perform manual and automated unit, regression and integration testing of the applications using testing tools and frameworks.
• Work closely with project management team and ensure successful delivery of application changes to test and production environments.
• Interfaces with several key groups in the company to ensure quality product delivery (example, project managers, application and technical architects, usability engineers, other development groups, business end users, and external users as appropriate)
• Assists with providing code statistics, development metrics (i.e. development cycle time), and assisting in the implementation and maintenance of a standardized development methodology.
• Ensures that products and solutions comply with the organization’s architectural standards.
• Works with Market Participants, *** representatives, and vendors to drive and deliver solutions to meet *** Business and Market needs.

Level Senior - Above +

• Experience: 5+ years
• Focuses on system design, architecture and team guidance and mentorship.
• Partners with Leads, to define solutions for complex business use cases and enforce coding standards and best practices.
• Optimize applications/systems, lead root cause analysis for production issues and drive automation.
• Organize and coordinate the planning, design and architecture phases of applications. Develops enterprise level application, adheres to software development lifecycle, including the analysis, test and custom integration of products.
• Advice management about the overall technical development goals of the Client Technology Development team.
• Works closely with project management team, assists in developing project delivery plan for various phases of applications to ensure successful delivery of projects.
• Advises and guides several key groups in the company to ensure quality product delivery.
• Serves as a Subject Matter Expert advising, guiding and mentoring team members as well as several key groups for quality product delivery.
• Conveys team goals effectively through strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Works on moderately complex issues where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Has the ability to resolve issues in creative and effective ways.

Level Lead - Above +

• Experience: 8+ years
• Focus on strategic technical direction and cross team coordination.
• Research and evaluate new technologies; establish engineering standards and architectural patterns.
• Act as primary contact for Business/Product Owners to translate strategic goals into technical roadmaps.
• Drive a culture of innovation and technical excellence across multiple engineering groups.
• Assistteams in challenging situations and help them deliver effective solutions. .Responsible for mentoring senior developers on best practices in software development, object-oriented design, design patterns and application frameworks.
• Understands and maintains knowledge of *** Nodal Protocols, PUCT rulings, NERC Reliability Standards, CIP protocols and help the staff understand standards and protocols.

All Levels -- Preferred SKILLS

• Messaging Services: Tibco JMS, AMQ, KAFKA
• Experience with CIM/XML model-based tools.
• Power industry experience in grid and market arena preferably with software vendors or ISO/utilities.
• AI: Proficiency in Python, knowledge in ML fundamentals, PyTorch/TensorFlow frameworks, experience with deep learning models, hands-on experience with LLM’s, prompt engineering and RAG architecture/frameworks.
• Data Pipelines: Hands-on experience with data pipelines and large-scale data processing.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Back-End: Java (17+), Spring Boot/Spring MVC.
• Front-End: React (Hooks, Context API/Redux), TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Angular (v12+, RxJS, NGRX, Signal store/NGRX Signals).
• Scripting Language: Python, Shell Scripting
• Database: Experience with relational (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• APIs: RESTful API design, JSON,.
• Tools: Git (GitHub/Bitbucket), Maven, and IDEs (IntelliJ, VS Code), Ansible for deployments.
• Operating Systems: Windows, Linux.
• Containerization: Docker (building images, managing containers, Docker Compose).
• Cloud Technologies: Experience with Azure/AWS
• Experience with advanced usage of AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, GPT and Claude LLMs for architectural brainstorming, debugging, software development, refactoring, automated unit and integration testing
• Experience with advanced prompt engineering to ensure reliable AI responses
• Knowledge in processing datasets using Databricks and Airflow

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field (Required)
• Master's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field (Preferred)
• or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
