This position is a member of the Application Services team within the Mines Information Technology department and serves as the technical expert for the configuration, integration, operation, maintenance, and support of Banner Student in the Ellucian Cloud (“Banner SaaS”) and related administrative and self-service applications. The role translates business, regulatory, accessibility, security, and data governance requirements into reliable technical solutions. It develops and supports integrations, workflows, and automated processes using Ellucian tools, Mines portal and data platforms, and approved third-party technologies. The position also provides technical guidance and Level 2 support for Banner SaaS and other campus-wide applications managed by the Application Services team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Application Integration Operations and Release Management (45%)
Essential Functions

- Support and maintain Banner integrations and scheduled processing between Banner and third-party systems.
- Configure and monitor production pipelines, scripted events, and automated processes to support reliable system operation.
- Implement monitoring, logging, error handling, reconciliation, and alerting practices to identify failures and accelerate issue resolution.
- Evaluate Ellucian SaaS releases, patches, vendor roadmaps, and regulatory or policy changes to determine operational and technical impacts.
- Coordinate testing, validation, communication, deployment readiness, and post-release support for vendor-driven changes with affected business units.
- Collaborate with functional users, developers, and IT staff to diagnose production issues, recommend solutions, and implement approved configuration changes and enhancements.
Solution Design, Development, and Implementation (30%)

- Partner with project teams, subject matter experts, data stewards, and IT staff to define scope, requirements, priorities, schedules, technical tasks, and data-sharing needs for new solutions.
- Design, develop, test, implement, and document secure integrations, interfaces, workflows, data extracts, and automated processes based on approved requirements.
- Define and apply integration standards for data mapping, source-to-target validation, API usage, authentication, error handling, and maintainable documentation.
- Use Ellucian tools and other approved technologies to build workflows and integrations that improve efficiency and reduce manual processing.
- Develop and maintain SQL using appropriate enterprise data sources to support integrations, data validation, operational reporting, and population selection.
- Assist the Institutional Research and Strategic Analytics team with automating data extracts and replicating data to platforms used for operational and strategic reporting.
Application Support and Knowledge Management (20%)

- Provide Level 2 support for Banner Student, Banner General, and other applications managed by the Application Administration team.
- Serve as an escalation point for vendor incidents, coordinate troubleshooting, and track issues through resolution.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for integrations, pipelines, scheduled processes, configurations, and support procedures to promote maintainability and business continuity.
- Develop and maintain user guidance, training materials, and knowledge base articles for the Service Desk and other Level 1 and Level 2 support resources.
- Provide scheduled or unscheduled after-hours and weekend support as needed for mission-critical or time-sensitive processing issues, consistent with the position’s designated support expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimal Level of Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in computer science, information technology, information systems, or a closely related field. Individuals without a related degree may be considered if they demonstrate possession of the same knowledge level found in a degree but have attained advanced knowledge through a combination of work experience and intellectual instruction using a 1:1 substitution.
3+ years of professional experience developing, configuring, integrating, or supporting enterprise applications. The experience must include API-based integrations, SQL, programming or scripting, and cloud-based or SaaS platforms.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities and Other Attributes (KSAOs)
- Demonstrated proficiency developing and maintaining solutions in at least one object-oriented programming language.
- Demonstrated proficiency writing and maintaining SQL, especially PostgreSQL, and applying relational database management system concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain programs and scripts that support enterprise applications and integrations.
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively in a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SaaS application support, API-based integrations, authentication methods, secure data exchange, and cloud-based service delivery.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical staff and non-technical users.
- Demonstrated ability to apply security, accessibility, privacy, and data stewardship expectations when developing, configuring, documenting, and supporting enterprise applications and integrations.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose, research, and resolve technical problems independently.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Desired level of Education and Experience
- Experience developing and supporting solutions using Ellucian Banner SaaS and Ethos technologies, including Insights, Integration Pipelines, User Provisioning, Intelligent Processes, Experience, Ethos or Banner APIs, Canvas integration through ILP, and Banner and Ethos security.
- Experience interacting with and debugging API calls using programming languages and tools such as Bruno or Insomnia, particularly with Banner SaaS, Workday, and Canvas APIs.
- Experience supporting applications in a higher education environment.
- Experience with job scheduling applications, especially the ISE Job Scheduler used in the Ellucian SaaS landscape.
- Experience developing and maintaining automation using Microsoft Windows PowerShell and Linux shell scripting.
- Experience using source code control and versioning systems such as Git and Subversion.
- Experience developing solutions using object-oriented programming languages and web technologies such as Java, JavaScript, Python, HTML, XML, and CSS.
- Experience supporting Enterprise Content Management systems.
- Experience implementing secure file exchange using technologies such as SFTP, AWS buckets, security keys, and PGP-based encryption.

- Ability to manage concurrent assignments, coordinate dependencies, track progress, and communicate status, risks, and technical information to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
