Do you enjoy programming, automation and problem-solving? Are you excited by the opportunity to work at the intersection of software development, data science, and statistics?
We are looking for a Junior Automation Engineer to join our growing Stats & Analytics team in Bangkok.
This is a development-focused position rather than a statistical consulting role. While an interest in data and analytical thinking is important, a Statistics degree is not required. We are looking for someone with strong programming aptitude, a logical mindset, and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities

- Build and maintain solutions using R and/or Python using Posit products and related technologies such as Azure, Postgres, Git etc.
- Assist in converting statistical methodologies and analytical workflows into scalable business applications.
- Develop reusable components and automation frameworks that improve efficiency and consistency.
- Support the integration of analytical tools into wider business processes and platforms.
Collaboration with Statistical Teams
- Work with statisticians to understand analytical requirements and identify opportunities for automation.
Help translate statistical workflows into user-friendly applications and processes.
Support the validation of implemented methods to ensure outputs remain accurate and reliable.
Assist with user testing and gathering feedback from business stakeholders.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Participate in software testing, validation and quality assurance.
Create and execute test plans for new applications and enhancements.
Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during testing or business use.
Ensure tools are robust, reliable and appropriately documented.
Cross-Functional Working
- Collaborate with MMR's Data Science and Software Development teams.
Contribute to the adoption of common development standards and approaches across teams.
Support the handover and deployment of tools into production environments where required.
AI-Assisted Development
- Effectively use AI development tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude and similar technologies to support coding, debugging, documentation and testing activities.
Explore opportunities to improve development efficiency through AI-assisted workflows.
Keep up to date with emerging technologies in software development, automation and artificial intelligence.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
1+ years of experience in software development, programming, automation or a related technical role.
Basic level of programming experience in R or Python, with a willingness to learn advanced programming techniques.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to write clear, maintainable, documented and well-structured code.
