Overview

This is an onsite network engineering role in Edwards, CA supporting a federal mission network. You will handle daily administration of that network, turn mission requirements into working configurations, and keep every connected device integrated and in line with federal cybersecurity rules.

What You Will Do

  • Install, set up and maintain switches, routers, firewalls and related network gear.
  • Run daily administration of the mission network, making sure requirements are captured, ranked and delivered.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, including VLANs, subnets, routing, DNS, DHCP, firewalls and hardware VPN tunnels.
  • Track utilization, catch problems early, and make changes that improve reliability and throughput.
  • Configure and support connected appliances (smart PDUs, NTP servers, printers, display clocks) so they integrate cleanly and meet cyber standards, including digital certificate management and Data in Transit (DIT) encryption.
  • Close out everyday IT issues quickly to keep mission impact low.
  • Keep the CMDB accurate: network diagrams, IPAM records, device configs, appliance inventories and certificate expiration dates.
  • Coordinate with other IT groups at the site and enterprise level so services stay consistent and interoperable.
  • Report weekly on assigned work, open requests and appliance compliance.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's plus 5+ years in network engineering, or an associate's (AA/AS) plus 8+ years
  • CCNA or CompTIA Network+ level knowledge (a current certification is strongly preferred)
  • Enterprise LAN/WAN administration: VLANs, routing, firewalls, VPN tunnels, DNS/DHCP
  • Hands-on integration of network appliances (PDUs, NTP, printers, clocks) in regulated settings
  • Certificate lifecycle work (issue, renew, revoke) and DIT encryption standards
  • Strong troubleshooting with fast resolution in mission-critical environments
  • Network documentation, IPAM and CMDB upkeep
  • Clear communication and good working relationships with cyber, systems and operations teams

Nice to Have

  • Support of federal, defense or aerospace mission networks
  • Formal configuration management and change request processes, including presenting to technical control boards
  • Enterprise monitoring and logging tools for capacity and performance management
  • Federal cybersecurity baselines, policies and compliance reporting

Additional Requirements

  • Onsite in Edwards, CA with limited travel; occasional after-hours or on-call support during mission activity
  • Active Public Trust and able to obtain a Secret clearance; must complete an SF-85 background investigation
  • Must pass drug and alcohol testing required by the customer contract
  • U.S. citizenship
