TalentFish is casting a line for a Sr Snowflake Administrator. In this role you will build, secure, and run the hospital's new Snowflake cloud data platform, and help move analytics workloads off the current Epic Clarity and Informatica environment. This role sits at the center of the implementation: configuring the platform, standing up data pipelines from Epic sources, enforcing HIPAA-grade security, and handing off a stable, well-governed platform to operations.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in database administration, data engineering, or data platform roles.
  • 2+ years hands-on administering Snowflake in production, including RBAC, warehouse sizing, and cost management.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience tuning queries on large datasets.
  • Experience integrating ETL/ELT tools with cloud data warehouses, ideally Informatica.
  • Working knowledge of at least one cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP), including storage, networking, and identity basics.
  • Experience implementing security controls for sensitive data, such as masking, encryption, and audit logging.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and handling of protected health information (PHI).
  • Clear written and verbal communication with both technical and clinical/business stakeholders.
  • SnowPro Core Certification
  • Completion of at least one Snowflake implementation for a large Healthcare System

Preferred Qualifications

  • Epic certification or proficiency in Clarity Data Model and/or Caboodle Data Model.
  • Prior healthcare IT experience, especially in a hospital or health-system data warehouse team.
  • Hands-on migration experience from an on-premises warehouse (SQL Server, Oracle, or Teradata) to Snowflake.
  • Experience with Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) and PowerCenter-to-cloud modernization.
  • Infrastructure-as-code and automation experience (Terraform, Python, CI/CD pipelines, Git).
  • Familiarity with dbt, Snowpark, data catalogs, or data-quality tools.
  • Experience supporting BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau connected to Snowflake.

Platform implementation

  • Partner with the implementation team, Snowflake professional services, and vendors to design and configure Snowflake accounts, databases, schemas, and virtual warehouses.
  • Establish environments (development, test, production) and promotion processes aligned with hospital change-control standards.
  • Define naming conventions, storage layers (raw, curated, presentation), and platform standards.
  • Support migration planning, sequencing, and cutover of reporting and analytics workloads from the current environment.

Epic Clarity and Caboodle integration

  • Work with Epic Clarity analysts and DBAs to replicate or extract Clarity data into Snowflake.
  • Validate data completeness and reconciliation between Clarity and Snowflake; build automated row-count and checksum checks.
  • Understand Epic ETL schedules and nightly refresh windows so Snowflake loads fit downstream reporting SLAs.
  • Support Epic upgrades by assessing and adapting to Clarity schema changes.

Informatica and data pipelines

  • Configure and maintain Informatica (PowerCenter and/or Intelligent Data Management Cloud) connectivity to Snowflake.
  • Help convert or re-platform existing Informatica mappings and workflows to load Snowflake efficiently (bulk loads, pushdown optimization).
  • Administer Snowflake ingestion features such as stages, Snowpipe, streams, and tasks.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures and coordinate fixes with ETL developers.

Security, privacy, and compliance

  • Implement role-based access control (RBAC) with least-privilege roles mapped to hospital job functions.
  • Configure SSO/SAML with the hospital identity provider, MFA, network policies, and private connectivity where required.
  • Protect PHI with dynamic data masking, row-access policies, object tagging, and encryption controls.
  • Support HIPAA, HITECH, and internal audit requirements; maintain access logs and produce evidence for audits and security reviews.
  • Work with Information Security on vulnerability reviews, data-sharing approvals, and incident response.

Operations, performance, and cost

  • Monitor platform health, query performance, and concurrency; tune warehouses, clustering, and caching.
  • Manage credit consumption with resource monitors, auto-suspend settings, and usage reporting to leadership.
  • Administer users, roles, and service accounts; handle onboarding and offboarding.
  • Set up backup and recovery practices using Time Travel, Fail-safe, and replication; support disaster-recovery testing.
  • Automate administrative tasks with SQL, Python, Terraform, or similar tools.

Collaboration and enablement

  • Serve as the Snowflake technical point of contact for analysts, report writers, data engineers, and BI teams (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Epic reporting).
  • Write platform documentation, runbooks, and standards.
  • Train and mentor staff transitioning from Clarity/SQL Server or Oracle reporting to Snowflake.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for production support after go-live.

Certifications (preferred)

  • SnowPro Core Certification
  • SnowPro Advanced: Administrator or Architect
  • Epic Clarity or Cogito certification
  • Cloud certification (e.g., Azure Data Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect)

Core Competencies

  • Ownership: treats platform stability, security, and cost as personal responsibilities.
  • Problem solving: diagnoses issues across Epic, Informatica, network, and Snowflake layers.
  • Data stewardship: protects patient privacy and data integrity in every design decision.
  • Collaboration: works well with Epic analysts, Information Security, vendors, and clinical reporting teams.
  • Adaptability: comfortable in a fast-moving implementation with shifting priorities.
