The opportunity

As our Cloud Operations Engineer, you will be reporting directly to the Head of IT, you will own the secure, reliable and cost-effective operation of our Microsoft Azure environment.

You will work closely with IT colleagues, business stakeholders and external service providers. The role offers a high degree of ownership, and you will independently manage complex operational issues as well as ad hoc projects and process improvements. You will have the opportunity to influence our cloud standards and contribute directly to stronger reliability, security, automation and cost-efficiency across the organization.

The primary tasks

• Design, implement, maintain and optimize Azure infrastructure, including virtual machines, networking, storage and Azure SQL connectivity.
• Administer Azure Virtual Desktop, cloud identity and access controls, including role-based access, Conditional Access, Key Vault and emergency-access arrangements.
• Develop and maintain cloud automation using PowerShell, Azure Automation and Logic Apps, and support Azure-hosted applications and deployment tooling.
• Monitor cloud performance, consumption and costs, respond to incidents, document root causes and implement measures that prevent recurrence.
• Develop cloud operational standards, documentation and runbooks, and evaluate practical technology improvements aligned with business needs and IT priorities.

Qualifications

We are seeking a Cloud Operations Engineer who can identify with the description below:

• A relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• +3 years of relevant experience in cloud infrastructure or operations, including hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Strong knowledge of Azure infrastructure, networking, security, identity and access management.
• Practical experience with incident troubleshooting, monitoring, backup and recovery, and PowerShell-based cloud automation.
• Experience administering Azure Virtual Desktop and working knowledge of Azure SQL connectivity.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

It is an advantage if you have

• Experience with infrastructure as code and Azure DevOps
• Experience with Microsoft Sentinel or other security monitoring tools
• Working knowledge of Linux server administration
