ROLE OVERVIEW

The Platform Architect (PA) serves as a trusted architectural advisor to enterprise customers, helping them maximize the value of their ServiceNow investment. The role translates business objectives into a strategic platform architecture, adoption roadmap, and technical governance framework. The PA provides architectural direction and advisory guidance rather than owning hands-on customer implementation, ensuring the platform remains scalable, secure, high-performing, maintainable, and upgrade-ready.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Architecture Advisory: Lead solution design reviews of customer and partner implementations; recommend scalable architecture, platform capabilities, application design, and alignment with business outcomes.
  • Platform Strategy & Roadmapping: Develop and maintain phased ServiceNow platform and product roadmaps, prioritizing workflow adoption based on business value, dependencies, customer maturity, and readiness.
  • Technical Architecture: Advise on ServiceNow data models, CMDB, CSDM, application development patterns, REST/SOAP APIs, Integration Hub, MID Server, and enterprise system integrations.
  • Platform Health & Optimization: Assess platform health across manageability, maintainability, upgradeability, security, performance, and user experience; identify technical debt and drive prioritized remediation plans.
  • Technical Governance: Establish advisory frameworks covering environment, data, platform, and development management, including standards, change management, customization controls, and development practices.
  • AI & Innovation Advisory: Guide customers on Now Assist, AI Agents, agentic workflows, and AI Control Tower, including use-case definition, adoption sequencing, data grounding, human oversight, and responsible AI governance.
  • Customer & Executive Engagement: Build trusted relationships with platform owners, enterprise architects, IT leadership, and executives; facilitate architecture workshops, strategic reviews, and executive discussions.
  • Risk & Value Management: Proactively identify architectural and platform risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and connect platform adoption to measurable business outcomes and customer value realization.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Work with customer teams, delivery partners, and internal specialists; leverage ServiceNow Impact resources and accelerators, share architectural best practices, and mentor peers where appropriate.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

  • Strong ServiceNow platform architecture knowledge, with deep expertise in IT Service Management (ITSM) and at least one additional workflow domain.
  • Working knowledge of ITOM, CSM, FSM, HRSD, SecOps, and GRC, with the ability to assess cross-workflow dependencies.
  • Expertise in CMDB, CSDM, data architecture, integration patterns, platform security, performance, instance lifecycle, upgrades, and technical governance.
  • Ability to review complex solution designs and advise on scalable, maintainable, and secure enterprise architectures.
  • Understanding of Now Assist, AI Agents, agentic workflows, AI governance, data privacy, and enterprise AI adoption.
  • Strong stakeholder management, executive communication, analytical problem-solving, and business/industry acumen.
  • Ability to independently manage customer engagements, communicate architectural trade-offs, and influence technical and business decisions.
