Essential Job Functions

• Database Design and Development: Designing, creating, and maintaining relational databases, including tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and triggers, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity.
• ETL Process Development: Designing, developing, and implementing Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes using various ETL tools (e.g., SSIS, Informatica, Talend, ODI) or custom scripting to move and transform data from diverse sources into data warehouses or other target systems.
• Performance Tuning and Optimization: Analyzing and optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL workflows to enhance performance and efficiency.
• Data Quality and Validation: Implementing data validation, cleansing, and error handling mechanisms within ETL processes to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
• Data Warehousing and Modeling: Contributing to the design and development of data warehouse architectures and dimensional models (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema).
• Collaboration and Communication: Collaborating with business analysts, data architects, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Documentation: Creating comprehensive documentation for database designs, ETL processes, data flows, and technical specifications.
• Mentorship and Best Practices: Mentoring junior developers, participating in code reviews, and promoting best practices in SQL development and data integration.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Proactively identifying and resolving database and ETL-related issues.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Extensive SQL Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of SQL (T-SQL, PL/SQL, etc.) including complex querying, stored procedures, functions, and performance tuning.
• ETL Tool Expertise: Hands-on experience with industry-standard ETL tools.
• Relational Database Experience: Strong experience working with relational database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Data Warehousing Concepts: Solid understanding of data warehousing principles and dimensional data modeling.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex datasets, identify issues, and develop effective solutions.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 7+ years of experience in SQL development and ETL processes.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
