We are seeking a Sapio LIMS Developer to design, configure, enhance, and support solutions on the Sapio lab informatics platform. This role will focus on webhook and plugin development, system integrations, production support, bug fixes, release-impact assessment, and Agile delivery across lab and enterprise workflows.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in Sapio LIMS or a closely related LIMS/ELN platform, along with strong Python and/or Java development skills. This person will partner closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Solution Architects, QA, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, supportable, and compliant solutions in a regulated laboratory environment. Sapio's public platform materials specifically emphasize extensibility via APIs, webhooks, plugins, rules, and workflow configuration, with Python tooling that supports REST APIs, Flask-based webhook servers, and Java-aligned protocol APIs.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure, customize, and support Sapio LIMS workflows, forms, data objects, rules, and integrations to meet laboratory and business requirements.
• Design, build, test, and maintain webhooks, plugins, and API-based extensions for Sapio to support workflow automation, real-time event handling, external system integration, instrument connectivity, and custom data parsing. Sapio publicly describes these as core extension patterns for bespoke workflows.
• Develop and support Python-based extensions using Sapio's Python tooling, including webhook/service patterns consistent with Sapio's published support for Flask-based webhook servers, record manipulation, validation logic, and REST-based interactions.
• Contribute to Java-based integration or extension work where applicable, especially in environments leveraging Sapio's protocol-step and Java-aligned APIs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production defects, integration failures, performance issues, and data/workflow bugs across the Sapio application landscape.
• Monitor Sapio platform releases, release notes, dependency changes, and version compatibility, and evaluate downstream impact on custom code, webhook endpoints, plugins, and integrations before deployment. Sapio's published Python materials explicitly note the need to align library versions to platform releases.
• Partner with Product Owners, Client, architects, lab operations, and business stakeholders to refine requirements, perform technical analysis, and propose implementation approaches.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, standups, demos, and retrospectives.
• Produce and maintain technical design documentation, support runbooks, release-impact assessments, and configuration/deployment documentation.
• Support UAT, root cause analysis, and change management activities across enhancement and defect-fix releases.
• Ensure delivered solutions align with data integrity, traceability, auditability, and compliance expectations typical of regulated laboratory environments. Sapio publicly positions its platform around built-in compliance, audit/process tracking, and regulatory support.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Bioinformatics, Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of software development, application support, or enterprise platform engineering experience.
• 2+ years of experience in LIMS/ELN/Lab Informatics development, configuration, or support.
• Hands-on development experience in Python and/or Java.
• Experience building or supporting REST APIs, webhooks, integration services, and event-driven workflows.
• Experience with bug fixing, root cause analysis, log analysis, and production support in business-critical applications.
• Experience working in an Agile / Scrum delivery model with cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to work directly with Product Owners, Client, Solution Architects, QA, and business stakeholders.
• Experience with requirements analysis, technical design, testing support, and release coordination.
• Ability to work in environments requiring structured change control, documentation, and support discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct hands-on experience with Sapio LIMS / Sapio ELN / Sapio platform.
• Experience developing Sapio webhooks, plugins, validation logic, toolbar/action extensions, or workflow-driven customizations. Sapio's public Python examples specifically reference these extension styles.
