One of our clients in the Telecommunications sector is looking for a Senior Java and AI Engineer who can write robust, carrier-grade Java code while also architecting and deploying AI models. He/She will bridge the gap between traditional OSS/BSS systems and next-generation predictive analytics, using AI to optimize network performance, automate fault resolution, and personalize customer interactions.

Key Deliverables

• Design, develop, and maintain high-throughput, low-latency Java microservices for telecom network management and provisioning systems.
• Build and deploy production-grade machine learning models (LLMs, predictive analytics, anomaly detection) to analyze network traffic data and call detail records (CDRs).
• Integrate AI capabilities directly into existing Java-based billing, customer care, and orchestration platforms using REST APIs and message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
• Optimize Java application performance for real-time data processing, ensuring 99.999% reliability in a 5G/cloud-native environment.
• Develop and fine-tune retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines to power internal knowledge bases for field engineers and customer support chatbots.
• Collaborate with data engineers to build data pipelines that clean, transform, and feed network telemetry data into AI models.
• Lead the evaluation and selection of AI frameworks (LangChain, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and integrate them with the existing Java tech stack.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce SOLID principles, and ensure all AI logic is explainable and auditable for regulatory compliance.
• Monitor model drift and system performance in production, implementing automated retraining and fallback strategies.

Requirements

Ideal Profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on Java.
• Hands-on experience developing and deploying AI/ML models in a production environment.
• Proven experience with at least one major AI framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face Transformers).
• Deep understanding of telecom data structures, including CDRs, network logs, and SNMP/NetFlow metrics.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Cassandra, or TimescaleDB) for handling time-series data.
• Experience deploying AI models in containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes (K8s).
• Proficiency in building and consuming RESTful and GraphQL APIs, with a solid grasp of OAuth2/OIDC security protocols.
• Experience with MLOps tools (MLflow, Kubeflow, or Weights & Biases) for versioning, tracking, and deployment.
• Solid understanding of concurrent programming, thread safety, and JVM garbage collection tuning.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex network failures into algorithmic solutions.
