## Quote
You’ll help shape the systems that keep a leading energy trading business accurate and compliant, while giving us the capacity to modernise our solutions and build what comes next.
## Here’s what the job entails
In the role, your primary function will be to design, build and improve C# solutions for what happens after an energy trade is captured: settlement, invoicing and regulatory reporting. As an experienced engineer, you will take ownership of solutions from ideas to production while helping make knowledge and ownership more distributed across the team. You will gain valuable insight into energy trading and financial regulation, while working with modern engineering approaches such as event-driven architecture and AI-assisted development.
More specifically, your responsibilities include
- designing, developing and maintaining C# services that turn every energy trade we make into correct accurate invoices, settlements and regulatory reports
- taking ownership of your solutions from idea to production, spotting and addressing issues early before they affect the business
- analysing how our current systems and data work, and simplifying complex or ageing solutions to make them easier to run, understand and change
- working closely with the product manager, product owner and solution architect to turn business needs, including regulatory rules, into well-tested and well-documented solutions
- sharing your knowledge through code reviews, documentation and mentoring, helping build shared knowledge and ownership across the team
## Meet your team
You will join our Late Trade Flow team, where we work with the systems that handle trades after they are made. Our primary responsibility is making sure these processes are accurate, timely and compliant with regulation. An important focus for the team is modernising these solutions and building the foundation for the next stage of the business, increasingly using event-driven architecture and AI.
We are a team of software and data engineers, supported by a product manager, product owner and solution architect, working side by side with our finance and trading colleagues. We value ownership, openness and learning from each other, and we actively share knowledge through collaboration, mentoring and feedback. As a curious and proactive team, we continuously explore how new technology and better ways of working can improve the solutions we build.
## But enough about us… over to you!
As you will be working with business-critical solutions, we imagine that you enjoy taking ownership and following your work from idea to production. You take a proactive approach to challenges, spotting issues and opportunities early and acting on them. At the same time, you enjoy working closely with others, sharing your knowledge and learning from the people around you.
Furthermore, we imagine that you
- have solid professional experience developing production software in C# and .NET
- have practical experience with domain-driven design and event-driven architecture
- bring an analytical approach to problem solving, including working with data and complex business rules
- have experience working in agile teams and contributing to product development
Please note that prior knowledge of the energy sector is not required for this role.
