Role Overview
We are seeking an Azure CloudOps Engineer to join our cloud operations function and support the delivery of resilient, scalable, and highly automated cloud platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and operating cloud infrastructure, implementing Infrastructure as Code, enhancing observability and AIOps capabilities, and driving automation across both application and infrastructure lifecycles.
This role combines Cloud Engineering, DevOps, SRE, and AIOps practices, leveraging automation, AI-assisted operations, and self-healing capabilities to improve platform reliability, operational efficiency, and service availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and support scalable, resilient, and self-healing cloud infrastructure across Azure and hybrid cloud environments, with exposure to AWS considered beneficial.
- Define and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools including Terraform, Helm, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
- Build, maintain, and optimise CI/CD pipelines supporting both application and infrastructure deployments.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts, deployment tooling, and operational workflows.
- Implement and support observability solutions, monitoring platforms, logging frameworks, and telemetry capabilities.
- Develop AIOps capabilities for anomaly detection, event correlation, alert noise reduction, and proactive issue identification.
- Create automated remediation processes, runbooks, and self-healing mechanisms to improve operational resilience.
- Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident resolution across platform and application environments.
- Analyse operational trends, system telemetry, and performance data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, CloudOps, and Infrastructure teams to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Support cloud platform reliability, observability, security, and operational best practices.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and operational strategy across cloud and hybrid environments.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 3+ years' experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Cloud Operations roles.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure services and cloud infrastructure environments.
- Strong experience with Terraform is preferred. Experience with Helm, CloudFormation, or Ansible would be advantageous.
- Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or similar tooling.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or other programming languages.
- Experience administering source control systems such as Git.
- Experience supporting cloud-based applications and infrastructure in production environments.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted engineering, automation, or operational tooling.
- Understanding of AIOps concepts including automated remediation, event correlation, and intelligent monitoring.
- Exposure to AI agents, agentic workflows, AIOps tooling, or robotic process automation (RPA) concepts.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, and network connectivity.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting Kubernetes, Docker, and microservices-based environments.
- Experience operating hybrid cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
- Experience implementing observability platforms such as Splunk, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, or similar technologies.
- Experience with AI-driven operational tooling and automated incident response solutions.
- Object-oriented programming experience.
- Experience working within Product Engineering, Software Engineering, or R&D environments.
- Experience supporting highly available, business-critical systems.
- Cloud certifications across Azure, AWS, DevOps, or Kubernetes technologies.
