Cloud FinOps Architect(AWS)

We are looking for a Cloud FinOps Architect to own our cloud financial strategy, governance, and unit-economics optimization. You will bridge Engineering, Finance, and Product to build automated guardrails, optimize multi-cloud spend, and turn raw billing data into strategic intelligence. AWS expertise is required; Azure/GCP experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Allocation & Architecture

Design enterprise tagging taxonomies, showback/chargeback models, and automated billing ingestion pipelines.

Commitment Strategy & Optimization

Manage multi-cloud commitments (AWS Savings Plans/RIs, Azure Reservations, GCP CUDs) and drive continuous right-sizing and idle resource cleanup.

Automation & Guardrails

Write Python scripts and Terraform modules to enforce financial guardrails, detect anomalies, and automate ETL workflows.

Unit Economics & Forecasting

Partner with FP&A to build budget models, variance analyses, and unit-cost metrics (e.g., cost per user/transaction).

Core Skills & Qualifications

Cloud Focus

Deep production expertise in AWS billing mechanics and pricing models; Azure or GCP fluency is a plus.

Billing Standards

Production experience with AWS CUR 2.0 or FOCUS; ability to parse Azure Cost Management and GCP BigQuery billing exports.

Data & Scripting

Strong SQL (BigQuery, Athena, Snowflake) and Python for idempotent ETL ( landing files, backfilling days safely, secret handling).

Data Schemas

Hands-on with FOCUS-shaped columns (Billed, Effective, List Cost) and tagging taxonomies (Owner, Environment, Cost Center).

Tooling & IAM

Experience with native tools (AWS Cost Explorer) and platforms (Cloudability, Datadog Cost Management, CloudHealth). Strong understanding of billing-scoped IAM permissions.

Nice to Have

Tracking GenAI spend (Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI, Anthropic, Vertex AI) down to token and request counts.

Ingesting Snowflake usage metrics (compute vs. storage) and SaaS vendor seat costs.

Orchestrating ETL via Terraform, Airflow, or GitHub Actions.

Building reconciled dashboards in Power BI or Tableau.

FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP) or AWS Solutions Architect certification.

Work Experience 10-15 yrs.
