Lead Technical Anchor

Ford’s Subscription Services Platform (SSP) powers connected-services subscriptions and payments globally. It manages the subscription lifecycle by connecting customer-facing channels, such as apps and websites, with backend systems for billing, catalog, tax, accounting, and vehicle fulfillment.

We’re seeking a Senior Technical Engineer to lead technical direction across SSP products and teams. The role combines portfolio-level architectural leadership with hands-on engineering. Strong Java, Spring Boot, GCP, practical AI adoption, and 10–12 years of professional backend development experience are essential. Front-end and mobile development experience is an advantage.

Set technical direction and maintain architectural consistency across SSP products and teams.

Lead architecture reviews and guide technology choices, APIs, integration patterns, security, and platform evolution.

Design, build, and operate scalable, reliable services using Java and Spring Boot on GCP.

Contribute hands-on through code, prototypes, technical spikes, and design reviews.

Champion engineering quality, including secure development, automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews, and effective quality gates.

Drive reusable platform capabilities and shared patterns that improve quality and developer productivity.

Adopt and leverage AI to improve engineering workflows and, where valuable, SSP capabilities. Promote responsible use, protect data, and validate AI-generated outputs.

Define reliability and production-support practices, including observability, service objectives, incident response, and continuous improvement.

Partner with product and program leaders on priorities, delivery, technical risks, and business trade-offs.

Mentor engineers and technical leads and demonstrate cross-functional leadership by fostering collaboration across backend, front-end, mobile, product, and program teams.

10–12 years of professional experience in backend development.

Strong hands-on expertise in Java and Spring Boot.

Experience designing and operating cloud-based solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Experience with APIs, system integrations, cloud-native architecture, CI/CD, testing, observability, and production support.

Demonstrated ability to guide architecture and engineering practices across multiple teams.

Practical experience adopting AI tools or capabilities in engineering, with sound judgment around responsible use.

Demonstrated mentoring and cross-functional leadership experience.

Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
