Java Developer (26-02153) - at InterSources. We’ll keep it in your applied jobs, so you can see it later and be warned before applying to the same employer twice.

  • ROLE TITLE: Java Developer IV / Senior Java Developer
  • SUBMISSIONS DUE: November 5, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. Central (three business days before the VMS close).
  • START / END: November 30, 2026 to June 30, 2027; likely to extend. The state cannot initially post beyond the current fiscal year end. Many roles may run multi-year, subject to renewal each fiscal year.
  • CLIENT LOCATION: Madison, WI 53703, United States.
  • WORK ARRANGEMENT: 100% remote from within the Madison area, with availability to come into the office as needed. Candidates must already live locally or relocate at their own expense. RAW conflicts on timing: before starting versus one month after hire; obtain confirmation before committing to a relocation schedule.

Notables here - they will take relocations but at this rate that just means we need more of a perfect match so candidates that hit the 15-20 requirements around the role and worked for DOJ at some state would be an example. Version match on Angular and the range on Java 8 to 21. AI Development with MCP/Skills would be of value. Most AI engineers are in high demand (won't relo) so if you have 1 gig with Java AI for 12 months + high match on other skills that might work. Probably need 10+ years. Only can submit one here so don't slam me with eight - send me your best 1 and see what I say then adjust

Skill Equivalency Guidance

  • Java Spring

Direct Match

Java 8–21 with Spring/Spring Boot application delivery.

Potential Functional Equivalent

Comparable Java enterprise frameworks may demonstrate transferable backend patterns, subject to client acceptance.

Not Equivalent

Non-Java development alone does not satisfy the named Java/Spring minimum.

  • Angular Development

Direct Match

Angular with TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS3.

Potential Functional Equivalent

Older Angular versions or other modern frontend frameworks can demonstrate transferable concepts; version and duration still need validation.

Not Equivalent

React-only work does not establish Angular 21 experience.

  • API Development

Direct Match

RESTful web applications/services with Spring Boot and OpenAPI.

Potential Functional Equivalent

Other REST frameworks and API specification tooling may demonstrate transferable design.

Not Equivalent

SOAP-only work does not demonstrate REST delivery.

  • Message Queuing

Direct Match

Kafka and demonstrated enterprise messaging.

Potential Functional Equivalent

Comparable messaging platforms may qualify where the source permits equivalent tools.

Not Equivalent

Synchronous REST integration alone does not demonstrate messaging queues.

  • Caching

Direct Match

Redis and application caching.

Potential Functional Equivalent

Comparable caching products may qualify where the source permits equivalent tools.

Not Equivalent

Relational database queries alone do not demonstrate caching.

  • Relational Databases

Direct Match

Strong relational database work, including Oracle.

Potential Functional Equivalent

Comparable relational platforms can establish transferable fundamentals; Oracle is an example in RAW.

Not Equivalent

NoSQL-only experience does not establish relational competence.

  • Automated Testing

Direct Match

JUnit and Playwright with backend coverage and frontend tests.

Potential Functional Equivalent

Other automated testing frameworks can demonstrate transferable methods; confirm acceptance of named-tool substitutions.

Not Equivalent

Manual testing alone does not demonstrate the required automation.

Equivalencies guide evidence review and interview targeting. They do not create candidate evidence, waive named requirements or automatically award S1 points.
