Working closely with Commercial, IT, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, and external data partners, you will translate complex business needs into practical governance policies and requirements.

Your expertise will help ensure consistency across critical domains, including healthcare professionals and organizations, products, prescriptions, payers, and specialty distribution.

You will also advise senior leaders, resolve complex data challenges, and establish long-term standards that support product launches, commercial effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.

This fully remote opportunity offers significant autonomy and the chance to shape a foundational capability with lasting business impact.

Accountabilities

You will lead the development and implementation of the commercial data governance strategy, establishing the policies, standards, controls, and partnerships needed to ensure trusted commercial data across the organization.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Data governance strategy and operating model: Establish and lead a scalable commercial data governance framework, including policies, standards, stewardship responsibilities, and a cross-functional governance council.
  • Define data ownership, accountability, and decision rights across Commercial, IT, and external partners through a business glossary, stewardship model, and RACI framework.
  • Prioritize governance initiatives based on business value, including product launch readiness, field deployment, analytics, and reporting requirements.
  • Commercial data management: Serve as the business owner of commercial data across CRM, data warehouse, analytics, and reporting environments, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and fitness for purpose.
  • Translate business and analytics needs into clear data requirements, definitions, and acceptance criteria, while overseeing technical integration and engineering work delivered by IT.
  • Establish validation processes, review checkpoints, and change-management controls to maintain data reliability as new systems, sources, and use cases are introduced.
  • Metric and business-rule governance: Create and maintain a certified library of commercial metric and business-rule definitions covering prescription and prescriber metrics, field activity, targeting, segmentation, and alignment logic.
  • Govern documentation, versioning, approvals, and change-control processes for metric definitions, including the communication of restatements and resolution of conflicting calculations.
  • Partner with Commercial Analytics and reporting teams to ensure consistent implementation of approved business rules across systems and dashboards.
  • Master and reference data governance: Define business standards for customer master data covering healthcare professionals (HCPs) and healthcare organizations (HCOs), working with IT's master data management teams and third-party reference providers.
  • Establish business requirements for match/merge, survivorship, hierarchy, affiliation, and identity-resolution rules to support accurate customer records and reporting.
  • Govern product, payer, territory, and alignment reference data to ensure consistency across commercial platforms.
  • Data quality and stewardship: Establish data quality standards, performance metrics, monitoring processes, and remediation workflows across critical commercial data domains.
  • Collaborate with IT data stewards to profile data, define quality rules, resolve issues at their source, and monitor improvements over time.
  • Metadata, lineage, and cataloging: Develop and govern data cataloging, business glossary, metadata, and lineage practices, documenting data flows from source systems and third-party feeds through analytics and reporting.
  • Privacy, compliance, and access governance: Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Privacy teams to implement controls supporting HIPAA, PDMA, state privacy laws, Open Payments reporting, PDRP/opt-out, and consent requirements.
  • Govern data classification, access permissions, and appropriate-use standards for sensitive commercial and third-party information, ensuring compliance with contractual restrictions and data-use agreements.
  • Maintain documentation of data controls and support audit readiness.
  • Partnership and cross-functional leadership: Build trusted relationships with Commercial Analytics, Field Operations, Market Access, Patient Services, Trade and Distribution, Omnichannel, IT, and external data vendors.
  • Chair the data governance council and drive awareness, training, and change management to establish a strong data-governance culture.
  • Represent the organization with external data partners and industry forums, bringing relevant standards and best practices into governance initiatives.
  • Strategic advisory: Act as the principal commercial data governance advisor to senior leaders, guiding decisions on complex and ambiguous data challenges.
  • Develop a long-term governance strategy and roadmap, exercising independent judgment and setting priorities that support strategic business objectives.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors aligned with organizational culture, core principles, and collaborative working practices.
