At Microsoft AI, we are building frontier models and products that reach millions of people, from pretraining through post-training, evaluation, and launch. Our Technical Program Managers are a centralized team, embedded deeply with the research, product, and engineering stakeholders they support.
For this role, we are looking for a Technical Program Manager to lead planning, prioritization, and execution for data infrastructure that supports Pretraining research and development. You'll partner with researchers, engineers, and technical leads to translate evolving needs into a clear roadmap, streamlined workflows, and reliable delivery.
This role combines technical program leadership with a strong product and user-experience mindset. Your users are the researchers and engineers building with data—understanding their workflows, friction points, and what drives research velocity will be central to your impact.
What You'll Do
- Roadmap & Execution: Own an integrated roadmap for data infrastructure, translating user needs into clear requirements, priorities, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
- Intake & Prioritization: Establish and maintain a centralized backlog of requests and gaps, making tradeoffs and decisions transparent.
- User Advocacy: Engage directly with researchers and engineers to identify pain points and turn feedback into concrete improvements.
- Technical Partnership: Partner with technical owners to navigate dependencies, infrastructure tradeoffs, and blockers, ensuring timely resolution.
- Cross-Team Alignment: Drive alignment across teams, reduce duplication, and connect tools into cohesive, end-to-end workflows, especially for work spanning organizational boundaries.
- Communication & Delivery: Clearly communicate status, risks, and decisions to stakeholders and leadership, using lightweight processes suited to fast-moving environments.
Qualifications
- Program Experience: 6+ years delivering complex technical programs across multiple teams, ideally in data infrastructure, large scale infrastructure, or developer tooling.
- Technical Fluency: Familiarity with data pipelines, distributed systems, or ML workflows, with the ability to engage credibly with technical audiences.
- Product Mindset: Proven ability to translate user needs into prioritized investments and improved experiences.
- Execution in Ambiguity: Experience managing dependencies, establishing accountability, and adapting plans as priorities evolve.
- Communication & Influence: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of aligning stakeholders and influencing without formal authority.
