Full-Stack Product Engineer

About the Role

Our client is a healthcare company that delivers primary care in the home. Clinicians visit patients where they live and care for the whole household, including families with chronic illness, caregivers handling complicated situations, and patients who have trouble getting to a clinic.

Because care is organized around the household, existing software doesn't fit the model, so the company is building its own platform. The household sits at the center, with dedicated tools for each group that touches it: clinicians during visits, care coordinators building weekly schedules, operations leaders managing regional markets, and eventually patients and families on mobile. A single engineering team builds all of it. There are no product managers or designers in between, so engineers work directly with the people using what they ship.

This hire will join that team as a full-stack Product Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Migrate legacy workflows. Each new tool replaces a process currently running in Athena or Salesforce. You'll learn how the existing workflow functions and decide which parts are worth keeping.
  • Own a product area from start to finish. Pick up a genuine problem one of the markets is facing and carry it through research, build, launch, and post-launch measurement, including the backend API.
  • Help decide what gets built. The team works from a roadmap rather than detailed specs. Requirements show up as short one-page briefs and direct conversations with staff. Engineers who need fully groomed tickets before starting will find this a hard adjustment.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong product judgment. You can separate what someone asks for from the problem they actually have, and you'll challenge a feature that would ship without trouble but make no real difference.
  • A strong eye for simplicity. This matters most. A coordinator's screen could display every available field, and a version with far fewer fields is often the better one. You notice that, care about it without being asked, and can explain your reasoning.
  • Comfort with AI-assisted development. The whole team builds with coding agents every day. We want to hear how far you've taken them: what you hand off to run on its own, what you prefer to write by hand, and times you caught an agent producing a wrong answer with confidence.
  • Design skills used to solve problems. You apply information hierarchy, interaction design, and early prototyping to test ideas before committing to a build, whether the user is a nurse practitioner working on a tablet in a patient's home or a coordinator juggling many browser tabs.
  • Willingness to learn healthcare data quickly. A healthcare background is not required. Within a few weeks you should understand concepts like care gaps and how PHI affects design choices.
  • A sound sense of when to slow down. Speed is fine for peripheral features, but core areas such as PHI, access controls, and any information a clinician relies on to make decisions require care. HIPAA requirements don't flex for deadlines.
  • Deep skill on one side of the stack and working knowledge of the other. The stack runs on AWS: React and TypeScript on the front end, Python with FastAPI on Fargate, Postgres on RDS, and Bedrock for AI features.

Before You Apply

  • Expect to work alongside legacy systems. The business depends on Salesforce daily, so new tools have to be built while older ones keep running.
  • Expect a small team. There's no dedicated PM, designer, or platform group. You'll join calls with clinicians and occasionally ride along on home visits.
  • Expect to work across the full stack. Candidates who want to stay strictly on the front end or back end will likely be frustrated here.

Qualifications

  • At least four years of experience delivering customer-facing software products.
  • Hands-on experience designing interfaces that real users depend on, in addition to building them.
  • Daily use of an agentic coding tool, plus strong written communication.
  • Strong skills in either Python or TypeScript/React, with working proficiency in the other.
  • Experience working in AWS (or the ability to ramp up quickly), preferably in a HIPAA-compliant setting.
  • Nice to have: mobile development, offline-first apps, EHR integrations, or building features with LLMs.
