Position Overview

Sky Solutions is seeking an experienced Automation Test Engineer to support a large-scale federal enterprise grants management modernization and sustainment program for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).

The Automation Test Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated test solutions to validate enterprise applications, business workflows, system integrations, APIs, and database functionality. The individual will work closely with developers, architects, business analysts, product managers, and DevSecOps teams to ensure application quality, reliability, performance, and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with test automation frameworks, API testing, database validation, regression testing, and integrating automated testing into Agile and CI/CD delivery pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts and frameworks for enterprise applications.
• Develop automated test solutions covering functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Automate complex business workflows and application scenarios across multiple enterprise systems.
• Perform API testing and validation of REST/SOAP services and system integrations.
• Conduct backend database testing, data validation, and reconciliation using SQL queries.
• Integrate automated testing frameworks into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and deployment.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, architects, and product teams to understand requirements and define test scenarios.
• Identify, document, track, and troubleshoot defects, working closely with development teams through resolution.
• Perform cross-browser, compatibility, and application regression testing.
• Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, automation scripts, and test execution reports.
• Support release validation, production readiness testing, and deployment verification.
• Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, automation efficiency, and overall software quality.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release activities.
• Ensure testing activities align with federal security, accessibility, and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance and test automation.
• Strong hands-on experience with automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent.
• Experience developing automated test scripts using Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar programming languages.
• Strong experience with API testing tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or similar.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience performing backend database validation and data reconciliation.
• Experience with functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integration of automated testing into DevOps workflows.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting federal government IT programs or large-scale enterprise applications.
• Experience testing Pega-based applications or other workflow-driven enterprise platforms.
• Familiarity with Java, .NET, PHP, and enterprise application environments.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD tools.
• Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner.
• Experience with AWS or Azure environments.
• Familiarity with application security testing and accessibility testing.
• Experience using AI-assisted testing and development tools to improve test automation productivity.

Compensation

The expected compensation range for this position is $64,189 - $135,245 annually. Compensation is determined in good faith and may vary based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, clearance level, labor category alignment, contract requirements, work location, internal equity, and business needs.

The posted range reflects the Sky's reasonable estimate at the time of posting and does not guarantee a specific salary or rate. Final compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications and applicable contractual and business considerations.
