Position Overview

Seeking a hands-on VMware Engineer / Consultant to deliver data center virtualization and hybrid cloud projects using VMware vSphere, NSX, and Azure VMware Solution (AVS). This consulting-level role focuses on deployments, migrations, upgrades, configuration, and troubleshooting, with the ability to translate client requirements into practical technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, upgrade, and support VMware ESXi, vCenter, and vSphere environments.
• Implement and troubleshoot VMware NSX networking and security, including segments, routing, distributed firewalls, and microsegmentation.
• Support AVS deployments and integration with on-premises VMware environments.
• Execute workload migrations using VMware HCX and other appropriate migration tools.
• Configure and troubleshoot hybrid connectivity, including Azure ExpressRoute, DNS, routing, and firewall dependencies.
• Assess virtualization environments and recommend improvements to performance, availability, capacity, and operational efficiency.
• Diagnose issues across compute, storage, networking, and virtualization layers.
• Develop implementation plans, migration runbooks, technical documentation, and operational handoff materials.
• Work directly with clients and delivery teams to manage technical dependencies and resolve implementation issues.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter in enterprise environments.
• Practical VMware NSX deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting experience.
• Hands-on experience with Azure VMware Solution, including deployment, integration, or workload migration.
• Solid understanding of data center networking, including VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, and firewalls.
• Experience delivering virtualization deployments, upgrades, and migrations.
• Understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, storage integration, and capacity planning.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and client communication skills.
• Ability to independently execute technical work within an agreed solution design.

Nice to Have

• VMware HCX migration and network extension experience.
• VMware vSAN and VMware Cloud Foundation experience.
• PowerCLI, PowerShell, or infrastructure automation skills.
• Experience with Azure networking, governance, and monitoring.
• Familiarity with enterprise backup and disaster recovery platforms.
• Relevant VMware or Microsoft Azure certifications.
• Prior experience in technology consulting, professional services, or managed services.
