Currently, around 4,000 employees are working at CARIAD on the digital transformation of the car. CARIAD is working intensively on the software and technology platform for Premium Platform Electric (PPE). The first vehicles based on PPE will be the electric Porsche Macan and Audi Q6 e-tron. At the core of CARIAD is the development of the unified and scalable software and technology platform E³ 2.0 for all Group brands. E³ stands for ‘end to end electronics architecture’. The new software and technology platform is built from scratch and will be used first at the end of 2024 in Artemis, the lighthouse project of Audi. Engineering Manager – Automotive Software (EV Energy & Charging Systems)

Location: Bangalore

Role Overview

CARIAD India‑BU at Embitel India Pvt. Ltd. (a Volkswagen Group company) is looking for a seasoned Automotive Software Development Engineering Manager to lead EV Energy and Charging Software development. The role combines deep technical ownership with people and program management responsibilities, overseeing 10–30 engineers and ensuring high‑quality, production‑ready software delivery for global Volkswagen Group OEM platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Ownership

• Lead EV Energy and Charging software (Embedded C) Development (High/Medium/Low voltage Energy & power management, Charging System functions).
• Act as technical escalation point.

Program & Delivery Management

• Own end-to-end delivery from India.
• Manage resources, stake holder, milestones, and global coordination.

People Management

• Lead and develop 10–30 engineers.
• Drive performance management, coaching, and hiring.

Process, Quality & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with ASPICE (specifically SWE practices), ISO 26262, and ISO 21434.
• Plan & Drive Agile / SAFe execution (JIRA, Confluence)Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentations, or Automotive Engineering.

Experience

10 –16 years total experience with 3+ years in people management.

Relevant Automotive Embedded Software development experience min 5 yrs.

Technical Skills

Embedded C/C++, MATLAB Simulink, AUTOSAR, Gtest, RTOS, CAN/LIN/Ethernet.

EV Domain

Electric Energy Management, Charging System, Electric Powertrain, Battery Management.

Thorough experience in Automotive Embedded SDLC (prototyping, design, VnV, Certification, manufacturing & production, service, software bug fix, software change, software defect).

Leadership Competencies

Strong technical depth, global collaboration skills, mentoring mindset, and experience working in matrixed organizations.
