Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Snowflake / Data & Application Engineer to develop and modernize data, reporting, analytics, and workflow solutions within a commercial banking and credit environment.

The ideal candidate will work closely with business subject-matter experts (SMEs), analysts, and enterprise technology teams to translate business requirements, existing datasets, spreadsheets, reports, and manual processes into practical applications, automated workflows, and reusable data products.

The role primarily focuses on building solutions using Snowflake, SQL, Python, Streamlit, and Power BI, with opportunities to leverage AI capabilities and document-processing technologies.

This is a hands-on development position requiring someone who can independently analyze business problems, understand underlying data, build functional prototypes, and develop scalable, maintainable applications. This is not a strategy, project management, or requirements-gathering-only role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Snowflake & Data Development
  • Develop, test, and maintain advanced SQL queries supporting applications, reporting, analytics, and business workflows.
  • Build and maintain Snowflake tables, views, transformations, mappings, and data structures.
  • Work with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Perform source-to-target mapping, data reconciliation, record-count validation, and field-level testing.
  • Analyze data relationships, historical records, business definitions, and data quality issues.
  • Document data lineage, transformations, dependencies, and application data usage.
  • Support development, testing, and production environments.
  • Application Development
  • Design, develop, and enhance data-driven internal applications, particularly using Streamlit and Snowflake.
  • Build interactive applications incorporating:
  • Portfolio and management dashboards.
  • Data-entry interfaces and validation tools.
  • Review and approval workflows.
  • Exception-management applications.
  • Operational tracking and assignment tools.
  • Data-ingestion and document-review utilities.
  • Forecasting and analytical applications.
  • AI-assisted business workflows.
  • Implement interactive forms, workflow states, controlled database write-back, and administrative functionality.
  • Develop reusable application components and improve application performance.
  • Python & Automation Development
  • Use Python to address business and data challenges that require capabilities beyond traditional SQL and reporting tools.
  • Develop solutions for data transformation, validation, reconciliation, and file processing.
  • Automate Excel-based processes and repetitive business activities.
  • Support document parsing, analytical calculations, and application business logic.
  • Develop integration utilities and prototype AI-enabled workflows.
  • Troubleshoot, enhance, and refactor existing Python code into reusable components.
  • Application Architecture & Maintainability
  • Develop modular, scalable, and maintainable applications.
  • Separate user interface, business logic, and data-access components.
  • Implement reusable Python components and configuration-driven development.
  • Manage application sessions, state, error handling, and logging.
  • Apply query optimization, caching, and performance improvements.
  • Support role-based access considerations, environment configuration, and source control.
  • Maintain transparency between application code, underlying data, and dependencies.
  • Reporting, Analytics & Visualization
  • Develop and enhance business intelligence and analytical solutions using:
  • Power BI
  • Streamlit
  • Snowflake
  • SQL
  • Python
  • Excel and Power Query
  • Analyze existing spreadsheets and reports to understand their calculations, business logic, and underlying data.
  • Modernize reporting capabilities using governed datasets and reusable data models.
  • Support leadership reporting, operational analytics, and business decision-making.
  • Workflow & Process Modernization
  • Convert spreadsheet-, email-, document-, and manually driven processes into structured applications and automated workflows.
  • Develop capabilities for data collection, approval routing, status tracking, and assignment management.
  • Implement business-rule validation, exception identification, and controlled overrides.
  • Support historical record retention, notifications, action tracking, and audit-friendly data capture.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing business processes rather than simply replicating manual activities.
  • Data Integration & Source-System Analysis
  • Work with business SMEs and technology partners to understand and analyze data originating from:
  • nCino
  • Client
  • Loan servicing platforms
  • Credit and underwriting systems
  • Financial-data providers
  • Enterprise data repositories
  • Excel-based models
  • Document management platforms
  • Identify data relationships, keys, field mappings, and data-quality concerns.
  • Support the development of reusable Snowflake datasets for multiple downstream business applications.
  • Collaborate with enterprise engineering teams responsible for data pipelines and system integrations.
  • Unstructured Data & Document Automation
  • Develop solutions to convert documents and files into structured, usable information.
  • Work with Excel workbooks, financial statements, operational reports, PDFs, images, customer-submitted documents, and credit documentation.
  • Support document extraction, OCR, data validation, and standardized data population.
  • Leverage Python-based extraction and AI-assisted document-processing technologies.
  • AI & Advanced Analytics
  • Explore and implement practical AI capabilities within business applications and workflows.
  • Work with technologies and concepts such as:
  • Snowflake Cortex
  • Semantic models and views
  • Natural-language analytics
  • AI agents
  • Document extraction
  • Automated summarization
  • Exception identification
  • Human-in-the-loop AI workflows
